I got no dog in this fight, but...

Paul Pierce is a top tier NBA SuperStar and anyone who doesn't give him his due credit doesn't know NBA basketball.  He's performed on a level with Kobe, LeBron, D-Wade, etc.,  while they were all still in swaddling clothes. He's outlasted many who were considered the "next Michael Jordan", and you can count them on both hands.

A credible source non-other than Tommy Heinshon called Paul Pierce perhaps the greatest scorer in Celtic history.

Just because he doesn't have the body type of some super athletic freak don't give Paul short shrift:  he's proven to be one of the strongest guys in the NBA, and as for clutch, he's proven his clutch credentials again and again.

Paul's got his peccadilloes and sometimes used to wrap towels around his head and give bad interview, but on the court, Paul has performed just as what he is, an NBA Hall of Famer.

And Paul is ready to lead the Celtics on their quest for the next title.

    peccadilloes?  Large man boobs?

    Definition of PECCADILLO

    : a slight offense

So on one hand you claim he's the most prodigious scorer in Celtic history and then in a back handed way you call him a Peckerdildo or something ... Odd, no?

Somewhat condradictory or hypo-critical ... yes?

You reaching, Mp, you're really reaching.

Best you stick to salary cap issues and stats:  that's where you really shine.

Clever, no, funny, no, reading comprehension, no, but an A+ for trying, and for making many valuable contributions.

One of the top five Celtics players ever IMO. His play was steller (unfortunately) in the 2008 playoffs and finals. Deserved the playoff MVP award.

A good player but never a great player. He will never be considered with the all time greats, Bird/Magic/Jordan/Kobe etc but he made the most of his limited talents.  Alas management thought Pierce was gonna be the next Bird and lead the Celtics to multiple championships. He didn't and only with a great player like KG did he finally reach his zenith.

2008 can be considered his pinnacle winning a title and MVP but that's tempered by the fact that Ariza was out and Radmanovic marked him and any player with a decent amount of talent would own him. We all saw what happened when Artest man-handled him in the 2010 Finals and suffice to say LBJ has dominated him despite being on the losing side.

To me Pierce is still the one that can carry the celtics the most. If we are down big I'm looking for Pierce to re-energize this team. I don't know why but to me it seems that it's still his team.

Re: I got no dog in this fight, but...

Pierce is one of the best Celtics scorers ever and he doesn't get credit for his overall durability and toughness.  He's a good rebounder, he is unguardable 1-on-1 because he can hit the 3 and take the ball to the rim with the best of them.  And when he was asked to become a good defensive player because of the team's emphasis on D, he did it gladly.

In his earlier days, he was a little less mature. (Indiana playoff series a few years back - peccadilloes?!)  But he has always said the right thing publicly and has embraced the role of team leader in the past 3-4 years.

Let's face it, he was surrounded by garbage talent for a good part of his career and he managed to score all those points even though teams knew he was the Celts' primary option.  Should tell us something about his ability.  He has been underrated his entire career (HS, college and pros) because he isn't flashy like Vince Carter.

Paul Pierce is a Scorer.  Plays hard.  Lost a big step.

Mistake giving him a 4 year contract.  IMHO

Not in the same league as Celtic Greats.

As a key figure in the Antoine Entourage, I hope you're getting paid . . . and not in rubber checks or comps at some casino.

But for some Toine and Paul will always be tied together at the hip because of those early young buck seasons of hope.

    2.  Ariza played in 2008
