Is Avery Bradley going to make it???

That is a good question.  He can play but can he contribute to a NBA team.  He looked awful the first year and broke out in the Spring of 2012 only to return to Earth last year and managed to not be much of a factor last year.  He can defend and it appeared for a while he could score, but teams backed off and took the backdoor away from him and forced him to shoot under pressure.  This worked and his confidence fell off a cliff last year.  Will a new offence designed to take advantage of his strengths help.  Yes, thank goodness we have a coach this year that will try to get his best players their best shots.  Doc became so predictable last year that his club was easy to defend because everybody knew what we were going to do.  Players like Randolph that could have helped us rotted on the bench.  The ball will move this year and the players will move, looking for pentetration and passes to open teammates.  Rondo will be more involved without the ball and will look to score more.  Players like KO will play a all around game and fill up the stat sheets.  With more ball and player movement , players like Jeff Green and others will get the ball in better position to score.  Rondo will have his chance, Green willl have his chance, Sullenger and KO will mature with experience. It will take time but we should suprise some.  IF our defense can come around we might , I say might make a run for the playoffs.  We are better than most think. Go Celtics

To make it in the NBA, you must have at least one above average skill. Avery is an elite defender with above average 3-point shooting. D & 3 types will always make it. Will he be an effective starter? That's a whole other question...

...or an average 3point shooter. There was a period of time where he was consistently knocking down the corner three. I still think his distance shooting will be an asset for him going forward despite his late season struggles.

He shot 50%/40% from field/3P in his second season before regressing to 40%/32% last season after recovering from double shoulder surgery. He has the skills, he just needs the confidence and health back.

Hey - you may be right. But you got to remember how AB ended this last season:

I know, we lost, but that kid can really IMPACT a game. That is NBA talent. He will succeed.

Don't forget Bradley's good attitude and great work ethic.

Bradley might never become an All-Star, but he'll always be one of the top defenders in the league.

As long as the price is right, he's a keeper.

Absolutely. And to push the intangibles further, he's a Celtic lifer. He's had three all-star future hall of famers to learn from for the three years of his NBA career. Thats invaluable. Learned how to shoot from Ray, defensive intensity from KG, and how to be a winner from Pierce.

AND, the kid has never had a healthy offseason to really work on his body and work on his game. Go find his post-game interview after game 6, he speaks to exactly that point.

I'm not going to go all Green-team and say he's a superstar, but I would not be surprised to see him keep getting better. He has a ton of pressure on him this season and I bet he learns from that and especially when Rondo comes back, he will make his impact.

We will see but keep in mind this guy isnt a shooter by nature.... did he improve for awhile? yes he did but he regressed...thats because he is still learning how to shoot...the hope is that he will improve every year...look at Magic when he first came in the league, he couldnt shoot for his first few years but he got more proficient as time went on...Jason kid did the same... bottom line he is an average shooter at best at this point but lets hope he becomes more consistent

He also regressed when was asked to run point and didnt have anyone to set up his shot. With Rondo back he is going to get a ton of open and good looks, with that I think we will see his percentage go back up.

Re: Is Avery Bradley going to make it???

Avery is already an all star on the defensive end. He just merely has to be avg on the offensive to be a legit starter.

With ab fully healed from DOUBLE shoulder surgery and with rondo back at pg I see ab being closer to the 12 ppg 50/40 shooting stats that he put up in that 20-25 game stretch when he replaced ray.

Most importantly ab brings the defensive effort every single game, that passion to defend, helps motivate his teammates to do the same (similiar to kg but in a lead by example way instead of talking). This is very important and can not be understated, especially with a young and impressionable team. You need guys who can spark that effort when u play a daunting 82 game season. AB is that type of player.

He's not got his flow yet but he's better than Tony Allen. Doc seemed to happen upon him by accident and I think AB knew this. We all OD'd on the hype with him. He's a bit to go but that defensive foudation and stamina will serve him well. Keep him.
