Is Jeff Green the current tanking player?

I can't believe how JG is able to excel one night and be a zero the next.

Is he tanking to help our lottery aspirations or is he just that inconsistant? Others have stated that he doesn't have real game but I see otherwise most times. It's like he is on a trip somewhere some games but it could be just a tank or waiting for the perfect opponent. ???? Come on JG

I think Green and Olynyk are smoking doobies before every game.

Personally I don't believe either player is in that category!

Green has always been like this. There isn't any reason to think things will be different.

"I can't believe how JG is able to excel one night and be a zero the next."

Your premise is absurd. Jeff Green as others have noted has always been totally inconsistent. Why would this year be any different.

I feel sorry for folks who saw him make a nice jumper and decided he was a great player.

It has been obvious forever that he doesn't want the ball the way stars do.

JEFF GREEN IS A ROLE PLAYER. It's that simple. He should be a starter that gets replaced off the bench quickly on his off nights.

That said, for someone who wants the Celts in the lottery, I'm very happy with Jeff Green right now.

Re: Is Jeff Green the current tanking player?

    Per story in Boston Herald;

Danny envisions the C's as an equal opportunity basketball team rather than a team built around one or two players. Sure Jeff can be the man on some nights but he's not a 25 pt/night scorer. He needs to be a better shooter to be more consistent in order to become that player but Danny's more concerned with Jeff's wing defense and rebounding right now.

Stevens says even though Green's become the man by default, because of that he's getting much more attention from the opposition and Jeff has to be good through all that attention.

Another story at B/R addressing Humphries reduced minutes points out that Humphries doesn't fit Stevens successful strategy at Butler. One in which "positional versatility" was most important especially in the frontcourt. Players like Hayward that possessed a combination of perimeter as well post effeciency wreaked havoc on opposing defenses and also created optimal spacing for teammates. Sully, Oly, Bass & Fav fit that template but Hump doesn't.

the problem with green is that he just doesn't care.  it's obvious in his mannerisms, facial expressions.  sometimes he is engaged.  sometimes he makes a spectacular play or has a great game.  as third fiddle to westbrook and durant he was in the perfect slot- people wouldn't pay him much attention, he underachieved on the boards and in scoring efficiency and it was covered up.

if you look at green's game since early in his career, i don't see improvement, just the same crap year after year.  he can drive a straight line to the bucket if he gets by someone other than that he can't create a shot to save his life.  he's not worth $9m.  was it worth it to dump perkins on OKC?  only if you did not re-sign green to this ridiculous contract.

oh well.  green is what he is.  a gussied up curtis rowe.

    Olynyk is the tanking player.

"Tanking" =  An over-used and incorrectly-used word (excuse) for short-term poor performance by simpletons.
