    Keep rondo until someone comes along with the right offer. No need to rush with him.

    Keep Rondo. He is an allstar and a special player. Brandon Knight, yeah he's only 21, but that is not an allstar. Drummond, ... maybe, but he's still really raw. There are no guarentees.

    I think Danny would want Drummond and picks.

    I think Rondo could be convinced to be a Celtic lifer, under the right circumstances. We need to go into next summer with a plan to get allstars around Rondo to get him to sign a 5 year, friendly contract extension.

    Pistons are not trading Drummond, according to reports.

    So NO DEAL!

    So why wouldn't you think Monroe and Knight to be adequate? I say it would be an excellent move if you consider that Rajon is presently recovering form his ACL and you can't be sure he will even be the same athlete when he returns, and his notorious rep as a malcontent isn't building value either. Is it really worth the risk to bring him to a team with a new coach and all of the new blood when you're not even guaranteed that this Rondo is able to do the things you all love about him? Think about sound business. Do a risk analysis and then say what you think is best. Don't just think best case scenario.........

    A lot of this stuff doesn't make sense from a marketing perspective.

    The celtics need at least one player their base knows.  Rondo will sell tickets for us, and we will need that beyond trading him.  He is an exciting player, and fans will need to have some fun. I don't see him going for Drummond, even though its probably a good move for long term winning.

    also, I think Danny will keep rondo to help reject the notion of tanking.

    Lin will not be traded because he is key to the infrastructure remaining from the Yao Ming era. He's worth more to Houston than anyone else.  That's the reason he landed in Houston at a crazy cost. I may be prooved wrong though.  That's just a marketing perspective.

    Oh by all means keep the nutjob GW, not only is he crazy but he can score in bunches. Other teams will get injured by him and we might actually win with his physical toughness.

    You don't need to package them if dealing with Detroit.

    Two trades ... Wallace for Knight and a 2014 2nd rounder and Rondo for Drummond and a 1st rounder in 2015 or 16'

    Re: just ship out GW!

    Here's an interesting take on the C's, Stevens & Rondo;

    http://audio.weei.com/a/77588396/si-com-s-ian-thomsen-doesn-t-see-rondo-in-the-celtics-long-term-plans.htm

    From the 7-8 minute mark Ian talks about the C's not really tanking by having bad players but trying to develop a program like the Spurs, Miami & Dallas. That involves indoctrinating the new coach/staff into the NBA with Celtic philosophy. This will take an entire season and regardless of how good the players are (with the exception of Rondo being the best PG in the NBA [Ian's words not mine Fungus] and capable of seeing that they win too many games) they will be lottery bound or use a combination of picks/players to move up in the draft or acquire a player by trade. And of course he agrees that if you're gonna be bad, make sure it's a year when the draft is as good as this one in 2014.

    While the new coach admires Rondo and his skills, the braintrust isn't sure that Rondo will have the patience to wait for the new coaching staff to get up to speed. Ian thinks Rondo will be traded over the summer once the C's can get what they want from either Detroit or Dallas who he thinks are the best opportunities for Rondo to succeed. While he doesn't talk much about what the Mavs might offer he does think that it will take Drummond to get Rondo. He also mentions Detroits need for a SF and while he doesn't talk about the technicalities of bundling it's clear that he thinks Wallace for Knight and Rondo for Drummond will get Danny to move Rondo sooner than he might otherwise.

    Finally, it's also interesting to hear him say that it's doubtful that the C's would ever trade Rondo to the Lakers as staying ahead of the Lakers in Championships is priority #1 ... The C's are driven to maintain the lead over L.A. when it comes to that and people shouldn't underestimate how important that is to the franchise.

    Enjoy the audio tape ... Good stuff!!!

    no one wants Wallace, he is a stiff.

    he would be perceived as a liability during a trade.

    Trading Melo, a 2-3 year project, would be dumb, he has no value right now.

    here's a really wild idea: how about if the Celts keep Wallace, try to rejuvinate his career, and then trade him when his market value is significantly higher?

    would you sell your house before or after you had given it a paint job?

    And to all, right now the ESPN trade machine is not working properly.

    Hahaha ..... But Smith probably isn't in there;

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ckm5fz3

    Anyway ... I was saying the C's could send the one player for Drummond and a pick. Detroit is under the cap and can take back the lesser of 150% of incoming salary plus $100K or 100% of incoming plus $5MM. So obviously we'd have to take back an expiring contract along with Drummond in the Rondo for Drummond scenerio and something similar in the Wallace for Knight trade as well. Point being we can trade each player individually unbundled not to say we wouldn't have to take back some package as both Drummond and Knight get about $3MM/yr. So Detroit can take back about $4.5MM for each or they have to send back $6.5-8.5MM each depending on whether it's Rondo or Wallace. So we get back Villy with one trade and Stuckey with the other.

    PS: Detroit can go over the cap in a trade as long as the salaries match up. They can't sign another Free Agent that takes them over the cap .... C'mon Fungus, this is a trade and very doable. You're slipping when you can't distinguish a trade from a FA signing ... WOW!!!!
