Wouldn't it be great to trade Wallace's and Humphs terrible contracts, maybe throw in some picks and get back two ageing HOFers who would both be off the books in two years?

    Oh wait....

Seriously though it's gotten to the point where other GMs think that DA will just give anyone away.  They're all calling for Rondo because they think Danny is still bent over from Nets deal and can get something for nothing.  None are truly serious, hence the BS offers from Detriot.

I think they'll roll with what they have now, cut whoever they can and try to work some minimal trades to shave the roster.  Something like shav for a 2nd round pick.

I'd love to see them get rid of Humphs, Wallace, Bass, Lee, Crawford as much as anyone, but no other team is going to offer anything of substance for any of them.  Not until at least one of them shows some on-court value.

If we can't get a young prospect and a pick for Rondo, what makes anyone believe we can get that for any of these bums?

The best plan to move Wallace's contract is as follows...

Keep Wallace and play him at the 3 and 4 positions for 25 mins/gm. Hopefully he remains healthy and puts up 12ppg/7.5rpg with solid defense, good hustle, and displays a solid veteran presence on this young team.

Next, identify a team with playoff aspirations/locks who suffers an injury at the 3 or 4 position.

Lastly, call that team and make a deal for expiring contracts/trade exceptions/2nd round pick.

Of course - if he gets hurt than this plan goes out the window.

Says the rest of the League.

If we could get a good prospect and a 1st round pick he would be gone right now.  So far Detroit has suggested he is worth a below average young point guard and a bad contract.  That's where his value is and will stay until he gets on the court and proves he can still play after the injury.

    80. What are the rules regarding trades?

Teams under the salary cap may make trades as they please, as long as they don't finish more than $100,000 above the salary cap following any trade.

    [/QUOTE]

    RULE #82

As described in question number 80, a team below the cap may disregard salaries when making trades, as long as the team finishes no more than $100,000 above the cap as the result of a trade. However, a team below the cap can choose to use the trade rules for teams above the cap if it works to the team's advantage. For example, if a team is $1 million below the cap, then by using the trade rules for teams below the cap it can trade an $8 million player for a player making up to $9.1 million. By using the rules in place for teams above the cap, the team could trade the $8 million player for a player making up to $12.1 million.

I don't expect any deal. That was my point.  We seem to be in agreement that Rondo's value is lowered right now due to his injury.

What I'm saying is that if we aren't getting offers for a decent young prospect and picks for Rondo why are people suggesting that Humps or Wallace will bring those offers.  I've seen suggestions that we could get Asik for Humphries, and Gerald Henderson for Wallace, HA! Good luck!

Humphries, Wallace, Lee, Bass, Brooks, even Rondo all took steps BACK last year.  All have less value than they did the prior year.  All had worse stats then the year before so we are STUCK with them until they get on the court and prove that they don't suck.

Thats my point.  The cavalry isn't coming, this is the team we will unfortunately have to watch, at least until the trade deadline.

Detroit needs a veteran PG and SF though and no doubt JSmoove is pushing for Rondo on that end. Not inconceivable that Dumars comes to grips with trading Drummond as long as he still has Monroe.

    Playoff Roster???

    Monroe (C)

    Smith (PF)

    Wallace (SF)

    Lee? (SG)

    Rondo (PG)

    The silence is deafening!

First you miss the TPE based on the way the NJ trade was broken down into like 3-4 trades. Then you can't see the forest for the trees when it comes to exceptions for teams under vs over the cap. When will you say you were wrong ... you claim that you admit to being wrong when you are so ?????

You also claimed that the only way to rebuild was thru the draft but now you are saying that that TPE from NJ can come in handy. Flip Flopping?  Maybe we can use that TPE with Bogans to acquire Askins next June .... Hahaha!!!

No, Mployee, I didn't miss the TPE from the Nets trade. I knew there was a TPE because celticslife reported it. But the initial report said the TPE would be 7m+, not 10.3m.

    You said:

"Two trades ... Wallace for Knight and a 2014 2nd rounder and Rondo for Drummond and a 1st rounder in 2015 or 16"

Detroit can't go over under the cap to make a trade.

You were half right that Detroit can go over as long as they follow the over the cap team rules. Like the 8m for 12m example you posted. But the Wallace for Knight and Drummond for Rondo trades simply don't work!

Rondo 11.95m for Drummond's 2.46m can't be done because it's more than the 150% allowed.

Same with Wallace's 10.1m for Knight's 2.79m can't be done because it exceeds the 150% allowed.

    150% of 8m is 12m.

    BAM!!!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Don't be silly I was indicating what Danny might want, not what he had to take, to do an unbundled  trade ... It's been agreed all over this thread that Villy and Stuckey would have to be taken back ... and you think I site the 150% rule and propose taking back 30% .... Hahaha, I'd have to have the math skills of Fungus34 to do that.

    Here:

    http://www.celticslife.com/2013/06/celtics-may-acquire-trade-exception-in.html

he Celtics will have to decide how to account for the trade but breaking it into three transactions would yield them the largest trade exception.

Paul Pierce and Jason Terry for Gerald Wallace, MarShon Brooks and Kris Humphries

Kris Joseph arriving as a minimum player without Boston sending out any salary

    Kevin Garnett for Keith Bogans

The difference between Garnett’s and Bogans’ salary would generate a trade exception of $7,374,735 for Boston.

How did that work out for ya?

    HAHAHA

Why did he do the swap then smart guy?

He didn't have to for salary cap to match up the player numbers cuz both Joseph and White were minimum salary guys and ignored in the trade. He must have wanted him back but now needs the roster spot.... too bad.
