    Kendrick Perkins

I think we all need to stick to the facts, so to speak. Let's be honest and look at the numbers. KP was never a great rebounder, in fact, I think he underachieved in this area. A career 6-7 rebound per night player, and same on  points. Yes, Perk had a good interior defensive presence, but I'm not sure that compensated for his other deficiencies (technical fouls, low basketball IQ, bad hands, inconsistency, mediocre foul shooter, can't run floor very well). Exactly why the C's did so well with Shaq in the lineup for the first 43 games; Perk was definitely not the critical piece. With a more versatile big man, even NK, I think folks will be surprised at the upside of the team as a whole. With both NK and Jeff Green, the C's simply have more attractive combinations and possibilities, and I wouldn't be surprised to see RR, KG, RA, PP, and Jeff Green in the game mostly in the 4Q and closing minutes of games. With Danny getting another strong bench player in the coming weeks, our starting 5 will be even fresher coming into April / May and the playoffs. Danny is a smart GM and knows the score.....a leader needs to possess vision, which most fans don't have, and we get tied in emotionally to these trades; GM's can't afford to do that. They need to look beyond the obvious. Of course, time will tell, so to speak, but I'm optimistic. Wyc is also very astute basketball guy from Princeton, and he and Doc all saw eye to eye on this one. Always tough because of disrupting the 'family', but I'm confident JG and NK will be seen as good adoptions, and quickly assimilate well into the Celtic way.

There is nothing bad things to say about Perk.
....somewhere along the lines, I have to respect his accomplishment & his future. I hope he gets rewarded for his hard work and be happy for the rest of his basketball career.

"Perk already got a ring, blessing that Ainge was able to trade him to a team who can "AFFORD" to pay him.
For Perk, it's all about his security and financial stability.

I'm not certain Ainge has a heart with this cut throat business, i can only
speculate.....he rewarded Perk by putting him to a team who will pay what he was asking. My hat to Ainge.

..it's a win win situation for both."        che

Perk is a quality player and an even better person.  But IMHO Kristic is actually better than Perk and will fit the Celtics better.  NK can hit the 18 - 22 foot J with consistency - this will open the floor for more Rondo incursions - Pierce drives and Baby post moves.  We should be able to get to the foul line more.  In addition we have Jeff Green who is very efficient on both ends of the floor.  Robinson was fun - but too indisciplined for the Celts.  I think that this was one of DA's better moves.

    Re: Kendrick Perkins

I know Perk is credited with being a good dude and a defensive specialist but really, his game has actually deteriorated the last couple seasons.

We'll miss his defense to a degree but so much of the rest of his game has never developed.. from just finishing an esay layup without winding up for 3 seconds & bring the ball to his knees first, to setting a legal screen, to catching a pass.

With Rondo on the court with him, its just too much offense to give up in the 1/2 court game.

My only concern is we have 2-3 healthy bodies to play center without having to stick BBD in there too much.

Perk I loved you for your work ethic and I love you even more for bringing us Jeff Green and Krstic.

Perk is happy in OKC and I wish him well, but the holes in his game cannot be fixed.

He will never be adroit at handling the ball, shooting, and his confidence in himself is all little out of touch with reality.  The guy has always thought he was better than he was. Nobody benefitted more from the big three than Perk.

I think if Kristic starts to play better here we will have the answer.  That the big 3 make you better.

I agree with what you said that Perk does think that he's better than he actually is. His interior defense is good, but he has holes in many aspects of his game. I think the offer of 4 years @ 22 million was a good offer by Danny. Perk may get more else where as some players are over paid, especially centers. Brendan Haywood is a perfect example.

Cant blame Perk for going for the $$. Only so many years in the NBA, make as much as you can. Apparently that was his plan all along which was why he didnt take DA's offer.

Nate says Perk cried all day when he got traded and I guess I can understand that even though this was going to happen eventually.   Was he just trying to gain an edge to negotiate better with the C's, maybe but his bluff (if it was) got called.

Hes gone & I hope we dont hear any stuff about how Perk was treated unfairly or a repeat of some that whinned about Powe being let go.

Its a business on both sides. Perk prob could have stayed but he wanted the $$ more... cant argue with him about that and cant feel too bad he got traded either.

Take a step back here.  Celtics signed JON with mid level exception for what, 6 mil/yr.  and has he even played a game this year????  Bottom line is Celtics should have signed Perk.  If he was a Laker, Buss signs him.

Like Jordan Farmar?..................Perkins turned down the max contract the Celtics could offer him - Kupchak would have traded him on the spot.  At least DA waited until the deadline..........................got that off realgm.com.
