Kevin Love is not our answer

He is just a glorified Tom Gugliotta. Chritian Laettner. He is no Larry Bird.

    Tom's 3 best seasons were:

    20.6ppg/8.7rpg at age 27

    20.1ppg/8.7rpg at age 28

    17.1ppg and 9.3prg at age 24

Love is only 24 RIGHT NOW and has three full seasons where he has averaged:

    14ppg/11rpg at AGE 21

    20.2ppg/15.2rpg at age 22

    26ppg/13.3rpg at age 23.

    He's had ONE major injury.

Unless his hand NEVER heals he's a won't be trading him to us, even for Green, Bradley, Sully and pick 16. If they did, a Rondo/Crawford, Lee/Terry, Pierce/BAE, Love/Bass, KG/MLE rotation would be a title contender.

When Laettner was 22 he was winning a title at Duke and being an unwanted bench scrub for team USA.

When Love was 22 he was averaging 20.2 points and 15.2 rebounds in the NBA.

Laettner never averaged more than 18.2 points in a season or 8.8 rebounds.

In his two title seasons as Duke, considered two of the greatest college seasons EVER, he averaged 19.8ppg/8.7rpg and 21.5ppg/7.9rpg.

    Oops...

Da buddy, you can't remember Bird, and you can only remember the last 4-5 seasons of Googs and Laettner, so I suggest you give this one up.

Good. He's not worth that. Liabilty on defense. Can't stop penetration AND get back to his man. Can't  dominate the biggest power forward matchups. Can't defend the rim. IMO

He can shoot the 3. Whoopie!!

He's a great rebounder. Defense wins championships though. He's no K.G. or Duncan. Equally good on both ends.

Let's see, looking at just last year:

36/16 and 29/12 vs. David Lee

    28/11 and 27/14 vs. Z Bo

    27/15 and 33/13 vs. Gasol/Bynum

    30/21 vs. McGee/Faried

    51/14 and 22/12 vs. Ibaka

    17/12 and 18/16 vs. Duncan

    31/11 and 25/17 vs. Dirk

    25/12 vs. Bosh

    22/11 vs. KG

    29/16 and 42/10 vs. Aldridge

    30/13 vs. Horford/Smith

Yup, he doesn't show up vs. the league's best all right

He's a 6'10" PF who played Center way too much before Pekovic emerged

He's slightly below average defending C's, slightly above average defending PF's and after that the best rebounder in the game, a skilled passing big, and a 20ppg scorer who was hitting on 83% of his FT's 39% of his 3's the two seasons before the hand injury.

Put him with KG, Pierce and Rondo for 2 years and the C's could win a title

Through 5 seasons 6 of the 10 the players Love most compares to are:

    Pippen

    Kemp

    Glen Rice

    Mullin

    KG

    McGrady

He made all-star games at ages 22 and 23

Love is the answer its impossible to argue against his numbers, this thread makes no sense. The only reason he's not the answer is because it will never happen.

    Yup

I mean in addition to getting 13-15 boards those last 2 years look at all those 25-36 point games... remember 2008? KG used to have those.

    Agreed.

I guess trading for a 24 yr old guy thats a rebounding machiene and can score 20+ at will isnt the answer...Makes no sense at all.

I take Love in a heartbeat. He's no Bird, (who is?), but much better than the other two mentioned.

We need offense and rebounds with youth..  He provides both and is young.

Just depends what we would have to give up for him.  I trade Rondo straight up or Rondo and another piece.

He and Garnett would be awesome underneath.

if we could somehow acquire love AND keep rondo and green, we'd be onto something. but it'll be hard to get him without giving up either of our best two young players. rondo, a 2 who can aqctually shoot, green, love and a center who can defend the rim and average maybe 10/8 would be a winning lineup. i'd gladly give up any combination of lee, terry, sully, bass, PP, melo, williams, crawford, randolph and even KG or bradly to get that done.

all that said, it isn't likley to happen.

Would you rather have Bosh or Love?

In a well-built big 3, Love can be the answer.  You just need a shot-blocking, defensive minded center next to him.

Amen. Love is averaging 17 and 12 for his career. I'd love to have him in the green and white. I don't know if he'd be THE answer, but there's no question he'd make the C's a far better team.

Of course he's no Larry Bird. For one thing, they play different positions.

hes no larry bird? WHO IS??

seriously, if your standards for players are how well they stack up next to Larry Bird, then ull be searching 20 years before you find someone acceptable for you. geez.

Love would be a perfect fit for what we need, but we would have to give up Rondo or Green (or both) to get him. Doesnt make us any better.
