Let's not just throw Perk to the wolves yet. Give him time to rehab because remember AInge could get him back on the cheap next year and use the injury as a negotiating tool.

I hope we're not looking at a Leon Powe situation
Why are people coming up with trade perk..the same that said shaq is too old at 38..it is now a 2 yr window as the majority of the team is signed for 2yrs..when Perk will be our starting center and still under the age of 30..Thanks for the laughter tho..
Posted by BBALLIQ
There are 164 games in that two year window

Perk is expected to return in mid February from injury

he is a FA after this season

so pretty much he can only be expected to play in about 35 of the next 164 games for sure

we have a stacked frontcourt now, even at 38 shaq will be fine at 16-20 mins a game, KG/JON at 28 mins each and Baby at 20-24.

This trade idea is lunacy, but Perk in a package for a legit SF who can guard the elite at that position and play all 82 games this year? That makes us better.

Trade to Parker?   ---crazy idea

but  PERK is not gonna get better (I'm not talking about his injury)...his skill will not get better. He hits the ceiling.
He supposed to be gone long time ago....ask Dudder.

The guy has mano de pierda, he can't shoot, he cant fake, he can't dunk, his move is unorthodox, he travels more than anthony bourdain, he gets mad for nothing, he has slippery hand like a calamari, he can't pass, he can't spot any of his teammates,  he can't dribble ....he can swat once is a blue moon and everyone are excited!!!

what else do you want?
He is coming to 8th year and Lopez is only 2nd year and way far from Lopez or Lee.

Perk will be a Celtic for a long time to come.  At least I hope he will.  Perk will not command a huge salary when his contract is up.  He is a very capable center who plays well within his limits.

It will be interesting to see how he fares once the big 3 is gone but he is solid enough to keep around for the forseeable future (2/3 years).

Re: PERKINS

just as an aside, Perkins was significantly improved in many areas related to his hands and going up with the ball, and played a lot last year with a wrist injury, affecting everything you do with the ball, including catching, shooting, post moves etc.  he regressed some and probably should have gotten more time to rest and recover, would probably have also prevented his knee injury, as he was playing with serious tendonitis in his knees and ended up with a serious injury as a result.

Perk for Parker, Parker is 36 years old.  Perk I would trade but we need a lot more than that.
Che..I cant disagree with you because I catch myself saying the same thing..however Perk is Perk..And is very succesful at what he does which is bang..Please tell me what other Centers can D up Man on Man With No Help D..Who else can D Shaq Bynum Howard straight up..Perk can and has..And now WE have Shaq... In 2 years we will have one of the biggest remaining true Centers in the league.. And Lopez jus got sent home for JaVale McGee... Perk and Rondo are the cornerstones of our future..Natural Point Guard and Natural Center already in place..this league is full of scorers and always will be..

Re: PERKINS

Perk is one of those guys who gets credit because he started on a championship team, but if he played on a losing team nobody would know who he was.  I give him all the credit in the world for putting in the work and playing hard, but he's too slow, and has 0 offensive game.  Wait until you see the 2 O'Neal's get wide open passes under the bucket from Rondo.  You're going to see how those plays should be finished, quickly and with authority.  Not the double or triple head fake/pumps that give the defense time to swarm, and essentially negate a great pass.

He's not going to come back from injury any faster.  His injury was really a blessing in disguise for the C's.  It let them address their weak link without insulting their starting player for last few years.

Perk is only 25 years old! I know we think he's older but that's young for a big who was headed for All-Defense.

The Celtics are a defensive team and Perk is a very important part of that team.
He is a necessary part of a successful play-off run. On offense he is a handicap, but on defense, he is just what the team needs. He has good pick and roll skills and no one plays Howard like Perk. Just ask Howard.

It remains to be seen how the Big Shamrock and Jermaine will play defense.

If Perk had not gone down, game seven may have been different.

If Perk played on a crappy team, he would be a 20/10 guy all season.  He does have a 60+% FG percentage.  It just isn't his role to put up major points.  He's not pretty in the post by any means, but manages to put the ball in the bucket, and as Red used to say, '-- it is a simple game, you just need to put the ball in the bucket more times than the other guys, that's how you win --'

Perk is one of the best defensive Centers despite his hands of stone on offense. The thought of Perk and Shaq on the same squad has the La La Losers panties all twisted in a knot.

Perk would be waist on a bad team.  His effort does not translate when those around him don't play D - like on 90% of the Western Coonference

Re: PERKINS

This injury will really set Perks offensive development back big time. He really needed to work on that inside the key jumper [a foot longer than a free throw for goodness sake] and his three dribble drive to the hoop. When he gets the ball out top, the defense sags into the passing lanes, leaving him WIDE OPEN to take one dribble and shoot, or drive right to the basket. As good as his defense has evolved over the years, his offense is WORST than a high school post man's. His injury will rob him of the practice time during the Summer to improve.
