I like David Lee, but as a PF - we would also have to trade for him, as he is not a FA!

Ok I accept David Lee as PF... ;)

Do you think there is enough money (selling players and without the KG &RA sallaries) to bring DH to boston retaining Rondo in the team?

Hawes @ $7.5M
Hump @ $7.5M

KG @ $5M
Bass @ $5M
Green @ $4.5M
Ray @ $4.5M
Beasley @ $8M
Dragic @ $3.5M
Mayo @ $7.5M

$30M available plus picks and castoffs for trades, MLE and Bird signings once over the cap ... KG, Ray, Bass, Green (Bird Rights) & Dragic (MLE) could all be signed once over the cap. That means almost $30M is available for Mayo, Beasley, Hump, and Hawes, not to mention the use of picks, S&T as well. Jack & Kaman are optional (in lieu of Dragic & Hawes) if able to swing a S&T involving picks, rookies or castoffs. Ilyasova and Young would be even cheaper options to Humphries and Mayo. It is doable!

Correction: The cap hold for KG, Ray & Green would limit their ability to sign more than 1-2 major FA's unless the C's renounced those three then resigned them first at modest salaries as indicated ($5M each or so) ... then they could resign their other Bird Rights FA's once over the cap ...

Re-read the threads in this post.
Without Bass, Boston has about $30m to spend.
Then they will have an additional $2.5m once they hit the cap.
All free agent signings would have to fit into this $32.5m including KG, Ray, Pietrus, etc.

Also, the salaries of the 1st round picks have to be factored into the $30m.
Boston doesn't have as much spending room as people think they do.

This off-season:

Kevin Garnett: 2 years/$20 million
Brandon Bass: MLE
Jeff Green: 1 year/$5 million
OJ Mayo: 4 years/$30 million
Mickael Pietrus: Veteran's Minimum
Greg Stiemsma: Veteran's Minimum
Tyler Zeller: 1st round pick
Doron Lamb: 1st round pick
Robert Sacre: 2nd round pick
Jae Crowder: 2nd round pick
Marquis Teague: Rookie free agent

2012-2013

C Tyler Zeller
PF Kevin Garnett
SF Paul Pierce
PG Rajon Rondo
SG OJ Mayo

C Greg Stiemsma
PF Brandon Bass
SF Jeff Green
PG Avery Bradley
SG Mickael Pietrus

C Robert Sacre
PF JaJuan Johnson
SF Jae Crowder
PG Marquis Teague
SG Doron Lamb

Front-load the Garnett contract so that in Year 2 he's basically a minimum player, thereby allowing the Celtics to target Dwight Howard.

Mark, are you referring to cap space or cap hold restrictions?

See my prior post as I forgot about cap hold restrictions and posted a correction to account for the means to resolve that problem.
In Response to Re: Predictions-Celtics lineup next year : You're totally clueless. We don't have Jeff Green's Bird rights anymore because he's already an unrestricted FA. Theoretically, any team could sign him right now, with the understanding that he would not be available until next season at the earliest. But if no team steps up between now and July 1, Green would join a free-agent class that could include  Dwight Howard  and  Deron Williams , as well as (former) teammates  Ray Allen  and  Kevin Garnett . http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/_/id/7433745/boston-celtics-withdrew-qualifying-offer-jeff-green-now-ufa Once teams start FA below the cap they can't go over the cap. There are no cap holds for KG, Ray, and Jeff Green. Only Bass and Moore have cap holds. Get a clue! http://www.hoopsworld.com/boston-celtics-team-salary
Posted by Fiercest34
Where does it say that there is no cap hold for Green? Post a link as proof like this one that shows cap holds for Free Agents:

How much do free agents count against their team's salary cap?

The free agent amount depends on the player's previous salary and what kind of free agent he is:

Kind of free agent Previous salary Percentage of previous salary
Larry Bird, except when coming off rookie "scale" contract At least the average salary 150%*
Larry Bird, except when coming off rookie "scale" contract Below the average salary 200%*
Larry Bird, coming off rookie "scale" contract At least the average salary 200% in 98-99*
225% in 99-00*
250% in the remaining seasons*
Larry Bird, coming off rookie "scale" contract Below the average salary 300%*
Early Bird Any 130%*
Non-Bird Any 120%*

If their were no cap holds for UFA's then we'd have $30M for other team's FA's and could resign all our Bird Right FA's once over the cap ... That's the whole intention of the cap hold ... to prevent teams from signing others before their own. So now who's CLUELESS34?

What an idiot you are!

Did you even read (Oh yeah, you have that reading comprehension problem) the link you posted? Let me "CLUE" you in CLUELESS34 with a paragraph reiterating EXACTLY WHAT I SAID from your own link !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, to get cap room in the first place, we have to "renounce" each of our free agents. Essentially, until we do so, a "cap hold" is placed on our salary cap, representing somewhere between 105% and 250% of the player's previous salary. Jeff Green's cap hold, for instance, is $11,139,970, representing 250% of his last year's salary. Cap holds eat into available salary cap space until such time as a free agent is renounced.

GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHY on your TRAILER PARK existance, should anyone here believe or trust in anything you say or post .... it's either lies or BS as you know NOTHING!!!!

A few years ago you tried to convince the entire board that teams over the cap had ONLY ONE VET MINIMUM to sign additional free agents. ARE YOU SENIAL? HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN YOUR STUPIDITY FROM JUST A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN THE ENTIRE BOARD SCHOOLED YOU LIKE THE LITTLE SCHOOLGIRL YOU REALLY ARE????????????

In Response to Re: Predictions-Celtics lineup next year:
In Response to Re: Predictions-Celtics lineup next year : Use your common sense. You're totally clueless. Ugh! 3. How much cap room do we have next year? With a $61 million cap and only $30 million committed, does that mean we can spend $31 million? Like with everything else related to the CBA, the answer is somewhat complicated. Next comes our draft picks. We're in all likelihood going to have both our own and the  Clippers ' #1 pick next year. Each of these picks carries a cap hold, as well. As of right now, those picks would be 16th and 21st in the draft. For our purposes today, though, let's assume that the Celts improve a bit, and that those picks end up as 20th and 22nd. These two picks combined would have a cap hold of approximately $2.3 million. Last comes empty roster spots. The salary cap presumes that teams have at least 12 players on its roster. For every player (or cap hold) below 12, the team is "charged" an amount equal to the rookie minimum salary, which will be right around $500,000 next year. Assuming that Bass opts out of his contract and that we renounce all of our free agents, we'd have Pierce, Rondo, Bradley, and Johnson under contract, plus two first rounders. That means we'd have six contracts, and six roster charges. These roster charges are at approximately $500k each, meaning another $3 million in salary. So what does this all mean? In essence, we have to add approximately $5.3 million to our committed salary for next year to accurately reflect our cap situation. That brings our commitments to $35,810,385, leaving approximately $25 million in cap space.   The Celts are not going to give KG 22m, Ray 15m, and Wilcox and Jeff Green are already off the books. You didn't read that ESPN report? Ugh!
