NO possibility at all. Maybe if he was 25 but at almost 40 years old we have seen the last of Shaq. How many people does anyone know in basketball that can contribute at 40 when healthy?????? It's over, let it go.
Posted by RicoCeltic
danny has said point blank that hestill doesnt believe we have seen the last of shaq. shaq this morining on eei on the dennis and callahan show refused to say this is final. he said he is retired for right now and repeated his montra from other shows that he is doing this simply because it wouldnt be fair to the celts and boston to put them thru the same old uncertainty as last year and have him take up a roster spot as well.
shaq never said that he would not possibly play any more, in fact i heard him do an interview in LA where he said that he was not interested in being the average player he saw himself as in miami during the playoffs and that he longed to return to the guy who was dominating just this year. isnt it all obvious and coming together? he has talked to danny, we own his rights, there will be no reneging of that. we are talking small fry money. shaq is still under our control if he returns next season. unless he sits out the entire year and then comes back or the celts do not want him back after he announces his comeback, he will be a celtic.. period!
doc and ainge have said over and over that he is the only guy who if he is still 7'1" and 350 lbs or whatever he is where it doesnt matter about practice and cohesion for he to help OUR team. we can throw him in there at any point if HEALTHY! this surgery should restore shaq to the very productive 21 minute man he was early this season... period! this surgery has been rumored for years, shaq just didnt want to take all the time off in order to get it just right. now he calls it his top priority. if he just wanted to walk around as a regular average joe, y would be considering surgery? he doesnt need surgery to not play pro ball.
like with bret favre and his shoulder injury, he doesnt need any surgery unless he intends to return to competitive ball. shaq clearly wants the surgery, plans on rehabbing without the pressure and once he knows he can go without any hobbling and restrictions at the same elite level he was earlier this season, he will contact DANNY and set the wheels in motion. we could trade him if we dont want him or if we are all set at the position. it will be our call. yeah, even at 40 a healthy and rehabbed shaq can contribute to what doc does! just dont be shocked if we havent seen the last of #36.
will be funny to have the lakes retire his his #34 only to have him return and beat them in the finals. shaq also stated that had he been healthy getting his 5th ring would have been a cakewalk. celts were planning on lakes and orlando as the main reason for having him. he always assumed it would be spurs-celtics. without those teams involved, he felt our road would have been far easier to #18. shaq has unfinished business, no way he's going out like this unless there are severe setbacks in his recovery and there is simply no way he can once again be as productive as he was earlier this year. either next season or the one after that, we will see shaq balling and dominating the paint again!
