    Smart player

This post isn't bout OSU's Markus, but could be.   A real heady player.   Did you see his teamate bout to mouth off on the official.   What did MS do?   Went right to him and put his hand over his teamate's mouth and escorted him away!
What is the benefit of a player like him?   Is it that all smart players can't make the J?   RR is the smartest of the Cs for the past few yrs and still isn't a reliable w/ the J.   I look at MS as the next drafts Oladipo tho I think Oladipo can J better.   Who are the smartest on the NBA teams?  Knicks had JKidd who was heads above the other knuckle heads on that team.   Wizzards-come on.   Bobcats-haven't seen Kidd Gilcrest play enough.   Jeff Taylor? ditto.   Just cause you went to an academic school doesn't mean you have an exceptional sports IQ.   DWade of the heat.   Kobe sort of.   CP3,  Varejeo, the two gators: Horeford and Noah, the big3 of the Spurs.   Former players the Glove, DJ, Larry, MJ, almost the whole Celtic starting team of the 70s and most of the Celtic players of the 60s.
What does it mean?   That if you're not sure of a player, then take the one w/ the high basketball IQ.   He will serve a purpose in the long run, he'll work hard to get better and  even if can't J will do most of other things well.
Imagine this team:   RR, Marcus Smart, Aaron Craft (2nd round), Humphries, Asik.   They may not be able to score, but a lot of teams won't be able to wait till the game is over.
(ps - notice I didn't mention ABradley.   Even tho big time hustler, he's not the high IQ player this post is about).
There are high IQ questional players (who I would still take most of them):   Rodman, World Peace to name a couple.

I have no idea what you're trying to say, but man, I completely agree with you. How does a basketball board not allow you to say the past tense of shooting!

Or the noun of the act of trying to make a basket.  But words like mame, kill, murder are ok.

Nice catch. It impressed me as well. Perhaps he could mentor RR after we draft him( I'm kidding, I'm kidding).

What is the question? I couldn't write schort the other day!

A smart player is what a smart player does! A lot of smart players are great shooters in fact it is a prerequisite otherwise you gonna get stuffed all day!

There are facets of bball IQ. Many facets. A smart passer may not be a smart slasher or post player or deep shooter.

    Re: Smart player

Sure some J'ers are really smart players.   Jerry West, John Stockton, Isahia Thomas, MJ, Kobe, Larry.   But, many not.   Ray Allen is a great J'er, but I won't call him exceptionally high IQ guy.   Not Dennis Scott, Dominique.   My example is the 5 in my blog. The best shooter of those is probably Humphries.

    Re: Smart player

On Ray Allen I would say he is not a very smart passer or penetrator. He is an extremely smart shooter and very smart strategist ( moving without the ball, setting picks, getting open, filling lanes, isolation plays)

Sometimes the very poor passing, driving and defense overshadow all that.
