    Team Cuts

    Boston waived guard Kammron Taylor and forward Damen Bell-Holter as well as forward DeShawn Sims.

    Roster down to 15 ... Looks like Pressey and Babb will make the team. Some here may be surprised to see Babb make it but really?  After all, the new coach requested that Danny bring him in for camp. Certainly the C's can appease their new coach by keeping a player he wants until/unless something better comes along. No doubt, if another team cuts a viable center or guard, then Babb will be the odd man out, but for now, Welcome to Boston!

    Cut of the Day: Dallas waived center Fab Melo ... The center that so many here clamored for in the 2012 draft has already been dropped by three teams in a matter of months .... Hmmmm!

    Re: Team Cuts

    Per the Herald;

    I would actually expect 4 cuts but it is possible they could cut just three and see how things go.  The team is barely under the luxury tax and technically they could probably fit one more rookie minimum contract under there.  Especially if it is non-guaranteed (maintaining roster flexibility).

    It is a small sample size, but of the 4 non-guaranteed guys Chris Babb has played the most games (5), the most minutes (6 per game), and scored the most points (3.2 per).  Simms, Taylor, and Bell-Holter each only played in 3 games so far.  If any one of them makes the team (based purely on presason game action) it would make sense if it was Babb.

    Why don't you make a thread to the entire board in apology for being such a troll, liar and reneger. Stop trying to lure people into bets with the promise of writing a thread if you lose the bet. We all know that you don't pay off on your losses unless you can write about it ... LOSER!!!

    Re: Team Cuts

    But this can't be, our resident expert and soothsayer Fierce34 has said Babb is no good, absolutely won't make the team and that is the kiss of death...  then he followed it up with his patented "HAHAHA LOLOLOL" which is a sign of utter superiority and knowledge.

    Laughable.

    Baab will make this team and eventually be a player because he is big, strong, plays good defense and is the best three point shooter on our team and maybe beyond.

    Re: Team Cuts

    Babb was a good college player who made a circuitous route through the NCAA, transferring from Penn State to go to Iowa midway through his college career.  He was a very good and consistent college player.  The list of college players who had great averages in college but didn't blow up the stat sheet before going on to great NBA careers is endless, this is college where if you don't do what the coach insists you don't play.  He might be a project but you can't teach 6'5" 225 pounds and a willingness to defend.

    He hit 36% of his threes for his college career, hit 38% his senior season and is shooting 44% for the Celtics, that's pretty good.  He was also considered his team's best defender at Iowa:

    Wherever you're getting your "knowledge" from, rotoworld, slam magazine, you should put it down and consider using critical thinking skills instead.

    Because you don't get it, you got that right...

    Re: Team Cuts

    The player I would compare Babb to also went undrafted, but he did a few things well that gave him a long healthy NBA career; defend, know when to pass and knock down threes.  You seem to think I'm saying Babb is going to turn into a high flying scorer, I think he could turn into a Bruce Bowen type player, a guy like that can have a career on any NBA team.  Babb has to work and make it happen but the potential is there.

    Some NBA players that went undrafted;

    Udonis Haslem

    Darrell Armstrong

    Raja Bell

    Jose Calderon

    Avery Johnson

    Brad Miller

    David Wesley

    John Starks

    Bruce Bowen

    Ben Wallace

    and Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round (#199) by the Patriots ... How did all those other professional teams with scouts and gm's pass on one of the most successful QB's in football history?

    How about this, Mployee, if Babb is still with the Celts on opening night, I make a thread about how wrong I was in thinking Babb would not make the team.

    But if Babb is not with the Celts on opening night, you make a thread about how stupid you were in thinking Babb would make the team.

    Deal?
