The Curse of the Big Three

The Lakers are finding out what the Heat found out earlier: It ain't easy.  In 2008 the Celtics assembled three superstars, stormed through the regular season, had some tough matchups in the playoffs, but won the championship and, mostly, made it look easy.  So the Heat said "we can do that," and discovered it wasn't easy at all.  Now the Lakers have fallen victim to the same thinking.

Thanks Paul, KG, Ray, and Doc.  Every subsequent year reiterates how really special that season was.  :-)

    +1

The Celts' Big 3 of KG, Pierce, and Ray are the only "super team" to win a championship the first time they were together. Even the Heat needed 2 tries to finally win a championship.

Super teams like the Olajuwon, Barkley, and Drexler/Pippen Rockets and the Shaq, Kobe, Malone, and Payton Lakers couldn't win a championship.

    Heat also needed the refs.........

Let us not forget the Lakers' supposedly unbeatable trio of Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Elgin Baylor played three seasons together without winning a championship.
