In response to R9R's comment:
Are you kidding me? You found an opinion piece that agrees with your Rondo stance? That article has no facts, statistics, measurements, or new ideas. It conveniently leaves out the fact that Rondo was leading in FG% before the injury.
Rondo may be dealt, but you all are dead wrong thinking we can just find another conerstone pointguard just like that.
You hate every move that Danny makes, you hate our assets, but you think that we can just magically "rebuild" in a season and even more magically draft Duncan, Jordan and Shaq and then be a winning franchise forever.
Seriously, do you really think there is something about the Celtic green that we can out compete the entire league like that? Its either, we are normal / suck, Danny is a genius, or our pieces are really valuable. PICK ONE
Not sure who you are talking to, but I LOVED Danny's NJ trade.
and as far as Rondo stats? You want more stats? Google Holliger PER rating for PGs. Whether you think that the rating analysis system is flawed or not, you will see the ranking is pretty accurate based on the different criteria.
Rondo ranks #13 among PGs. He would be MUCH lower if it weren't for his assist and rebound proficiency.
Rondo ranks 40th of all PGs in TS% (true shooting percentage). that means most backup PGs are better. They count 3 point%, free throw % as well as fould shots, meaning EVERY shot. Even with Rondo's excessive layups, he still ranks near last!!
but balance the assists with the turnovers.
Rondo ranks 49th of 50 in most turnovers per posession. worst turnover ratio by far versus every other PG starter.
Rondo is 30th out of all 50 PGs in VA at 5 (value added - season wins over a replacement). For comparison Westbook and Paul have 18.
31st of 50 in VA (points added over a replacement)
I could care less about Rondo's rebounding. He gets more than most PGs because he drives to the basket more, because he can't shoot, so he is already underneath. Its also the reason why the Celtics rank near last in fast breaks allowed. Because he can't get back to defend. I want my PG to take care of the ball and shoot, not get rebounds.
The only thing I like about Rondo is that he is a proficient passer, despite his high turnover rate.
