In response to Duke4's comment:
so you're hanging your hat on 39-36 vs 38 36...?
How does this sound to you...?
Regular season: Celtics 154 Lakers 124 (.554 winning percentage vs 446)
Playoffs: Celtics 43 Lakers 31 (.581 vs .419)
of course, the playoff games were all in the Finals where it is Celtics 9 Lakers 3 (.750 vs .250)
enjoy your one half game lead through the current season.....
No need to fret my friend. Just because your team only has 1 title in the past 2 and half decades should not make you delusional. Stay healthy and as always.... Stay blessed!
Our Franchise has certainly been blessed as having the best NBA championship record in history.
I am so tired of reading that the Lakers are the more relevant franchise recently. Start a discussion as to which team has won the most titles in the last 25 years and the statistics show it is the Lakers…case closed…nothing more to discuss. So should we have a Discussion title who was more relevant the previous 25 years---so what ?
Duke has already enlightened us with the following staistics. Your only rebuttal is you have more championships recently but no comments on the other statistics.
History, ancient or current, contains the statistics that the Celtics head to head with the Lakers are 9-3. And, in our history, total games played between the Celtics and Lakers are 276 and the record is in our favor, 153 to 123 !!!
But re: the Celtics being passe’ the past few years, I call your attention to 2008 when we won the title from LA in 6 games by the highest playoff margin in history…a thrashing !!! Our head to head total after 2010 in 7 games would have been 10-2 were it not for the egregious gift of 41 to 18 foul shots wiping out a 13 pt lead and Laker shooting of 32% to Boston’s 40% and the guy who walks on water, Kobe, shot 6 for 24 or 25%(he’d been a goat had the refs not handed LA the title). LA got 21 foul shots just in the critical 4th qtr to our 18 the whole game. Did we have heart ??? We did this without our center Perkins.
In the last 2 years we got by the 1st round beating NY 4-0 & then lost to Miami 1-4. Then last season we lost in the conference final in game 7 being tied at the end of 3 quarters to the team that wins the Championship 4-1 vs. OKC which was a team that beat the Lakers 4-1 in the playoffs especially when whole Laker team was healthy and we were without A. Bradley, Wilcox & Green & PP & Allen played injured. The previous year the Lakers lost to the Mavs 0-4. So in the last 2 years LA was 1-8. How can anyone say we have been a mediocre team recently ???
