It's not too much to ask. Atlanta and Brooklyn are not as talented. The Celtics should be able to surpass one or both of them in the standings.

I want to play Miami first as our legs will not have endured a grueling previous series because irrespective who we play, we ain't gonna sweep and may win in 5 but hopefully at least 6 so will not have a lot of rest. The Heat will win in 4 and maybe 5 & be well rested.

After the Heat we may be tired from a 7 game series but we'll have the momentum & the adrenaline will flow & we'll be in the minds of the opponents having beaten the Heat.

Please tell me what the difference/benefit to us playing them in the finals or 1st ???

It's really stupid to want to play the Heat in the 2nd round.

Seriously, the Celts have a bigger chance of getting back to the east finals against Miami if they face NY or Indy in the 2nd round.

The 6th seed is the best way to go. Why make life difficult?

I prefer the Celtics improve as the season progresses.  If that gets them a 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th seed so be it.  To be the best, you have to play the best.

Finishing sixth seems realistic too. We'll just see what happens. The primary objective is to avoid a first round matchup with Miami. The Celtics at the very least need to hold off the Bucks.

Unfortunately that's not true. The Celts can no longer be the best because of old age, poor rebounding, and erratic 3pt shooting.

One poster here said the Celts can still win if other playoff teams suffer injuries to key players. That's unfortunately true also. In other words, the Celts can only win if the opposing team is not at 100%.

Come on, if age isn't a factor then the likes of MJ and Olajuwon would still be playing right now.

Point taken but are you suggesting this team needs to throw games to stay at the 6th seed?  This team needs to keep on improving as they go.  Winning games builds confidence and confidence goes along ways down the stretch in close games.  I don't care who they play if they use the rest of the season to get better going into the playoffs.  I don't think Doc and Danny are praying for key injuries to other teams.

    Thats good to know Kirk

4th seed is the best seed for the C's to knock off the Heat (and its more realistic than the 3rd seed) as long as the Bulls don't have a healthy Rose and get the 5th seed, this team should want the 4th all the way, take the same route they took in 2010 when they knocked off a LeBron led 1 seed in rd 2.

It would be better for the Celtics to finish at least 4th place since that would give them home advantage in the first round.  Finishing as a higher seed than they are currently would definitely be an advantage.  Playing their best basketball at the end of the season is the most important.

Personally I don't think you worry about any future series as far as where you end up in the standings.  You play to win and where you end up, so be it.  I am pretty sure that is the Celtics thoughts as well.   Kind of like losing games to get better lottery picks.  How did that work for us?

The difference is EVERY NON-CELTIC FAN knows the Heat are going to beat the Celtics in the playoffs.

Come on, let's be realistic, this is Lebron's time.

Remember, it took a while before MJ got his first ring. But when he did, there was not stopping the Bulls and MJ.

What you say may be true; however most non-Celtic fans and many in the media see the Celtics as the team before Rondo went down.  Remember, the Cs were one half away from moving on in the play-offs and we didi that without Bradley to guard Wade. Since Rondo went down, Green has shown the ability to guard Lebron, and his offense while trick or treat, should make up for Rondo's numbers.  I

You left off that we were also with Jeff Green, Wilcox, and Ray was still playing in pain, PP had a knee injury as well.  I know Bosh was out, but I would say we were down in players more than the Heat. I think posters here are over reacting to Green being able to guard James.  James still score 30 pts that game,  but took quite a few shots to get there.  James is a great player and I doubt that anyone in this league is going to shut him down very often.  It will take a total team concept to accomplish that.  I hope big time that I am wrong and Jeff can handle the task and bring James to a mere mortal.

I see that you also see things the way they are. Jeff forced James into some difficult shots but I seriously doubt that we have the NBA's very first  "Lebron Stopper"   Hope I am wrong.

Green plays good D but Lebron didn't have any reall isses with him in that game. I am sure Bron is not concerned with Green at all.
