In response to Fierce34's comment:
GW is a keeper is the Celts are a playoff team.
But why spend 10m per year for 3 years on a 31-year old SF when you're going to be a lottery team for the next 2-3 years?
It doesn't make sense.
Right now the objective is not to win games.
The objective is to get the highest draft pick available in 2014.
And don't forget that the Celts already have Jeff Green.
Again, it doesn't make sense spending 19m per year on two SFs.
Yes Fierce , Wallace is a keeper if the Celtics are a playoff team , I think they are....
Plus , I think Wallace and Jeff Green will play together at the same time, I don't see Wallace as a SF backup, he is big enough to play power forward (10minutes) as is Jeff Green, and Green will also play 2 freeing up more minutes for Wallace.....
Wallace is highly skilled and can play the uptempo positionless basketball the Celtics desire
There's only about 6 guys in the whole league who are too big for Wallace to handle......
I hope Ainge keeps Wallace and moves salary with other players
The whole tanking for the lottery thing is crazy, Ainge has gathered enough draft day assets that he can move up to get a top player for the Celtics
My point is , a free agent as good as Wallace would probaby not even sign with Boston , so I think the 3 yr deal is perfect , plus the 3rd expiring year the $10M contract will be a nice asset to flip ....
Congratulations to the Red Sox for another chapter in Fenway history.....The Red Sox are in the World Series !
