Would Cavs trade picks 19 and 31 in this years draft to Cs for pick # 16?

Win, win, for both clubs! Cavs have 4-picks in 2013 draft, and Cs have one.

Cs could end up with Dieng and A. Goodwin! Cavs could get Plumlee!

    What say you?

Celts need a star, not role players.

If the Celts package the 16th with a guy like Avery Bradley, the Celts could end up getting a top 10 pick.

I agree with you! The Cs do need a super star - and their will be 2 potential super stars in next years draft!

Draft and develop role players this year! Take a shot at the brass ring in 2014!

    Fierce,

If you are correct that you need stars to win and that they come from high draft picks (most of the time), who in the top-10 or more realistically in this draft top-5 or 6 disagrees with you or already has their "star" and would take that trade.  The Cavs have their star but they also have the #1 pick.  Who will truly want depth over the significantly better individual player that you want to pick after the trade?  That is the problem with all the package and move up... unless you "fleece" someone then you need to find someone that wants depth over the better single player...

    +1

Celtics shouldn't move down.  They should be desperately trying to move up.  I like the idea of sending the 16 pick along w/ Bradley to move into the top 10 - preferably 9 so they might have a shot at Zeller.

You never can tell with the draft, though.  Go back and look at the 2006 draft.  If this draft were redone today knowing what we know now, Rondo would probably be the 2nd overall pick in that draft....and arguably could be no. 1.  LeMarcus Aldridge and Gay would be the top 3....and the rest really didn't pan out.  Barnagni would maybe be 4, but you wouldn't be happy about it.

Guys - DAL is making a run at DH.  We should BUY the 13 th pick from DAL outright.  Then, with two picks, perhaps get into the Top 10!

Why not pick two guys at 13 and 16.  We need more than just one.

Yes, I agree that is certainly an option........Shabazz and Adams!

....or maybe you could package those two picks with AB and move up into the top five.  Charlotte supposedly wants to get out of 4.

CHA does, but MN wants that pick......if we work with them, maybe we can get #9

9 would be a good pick as well.  Don't know if I would give up 16 and 13 for 9.  Maybe 13 and next years 2nd round pick.  That way we have 9 and 16.  I wouldn't mind that either.

Well, my thought is that we don't know what CHA wants.  If we trade 16 and 13 for 9, then MN can give CHA four picks in the draft.

NBA Rumors: Cavaliers could deal first-overall pick

    May 22, 2013 by Scott 24 Comments

Just hours after winning the first-overall selection in the 2013 NBA Draft, rumors are circulating that have the Cleveland Cavaliers considering trade options which would include their lottery prize.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst points out that, while a top pick has not been dealt in 20 years, the stars are aligned for the Wine and Gold to pull the trigger in the event an offer presents itself.

“The Cavs are in a favorable position to make a deal,” writes Windhorst. ”The team has more than $20 million in salary cap space, the No. 1 pick plus the No. 19, No. 31 and No. 33 picks, and a roster with young prospects that could be used in a deal.”

The 2013 NBA Draft, like several that came before it, is widely considered to be a weak draft in terms of star potential. Kentucky center Nerlens Noel (who is presently pegged to go to the Cavaliers in the event the team keeps the selection) is coming off of ACL surgery and is very raw offensively. There are several wing players who could go within the top five, and two of the better frontcourt players not named Noel—UNLV’s Anthony Bennett and Maryland’s Alex Len—are presently nursing injuries of their own.

Rumors have circulated that link the Cavaliers to deals with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trailblazers. Nothing concrete has been reported, however, outside of a report that the Blazers and Cavaliers had been discussing a trade that would send forward LaMarcus Aldridge to Cleveland.

“You want to look at all your options and make the best decision for your team,” Cavs general manager Chris Grant said following the lottery. “This is a valuable asset that we can add to the group, whether it’s in trade or keep it and add a player.”

Adams was the top-ranked prospect among 12 players Boston auditioned in pre-draft workouts at their training facility in recent days. After showcasing a better-than-expected offensive game at the draft combine in Chicago, Adams has caught the attention of teams across the league. So what exactly has Scalabrine been teaching him? "He’s been up against NBA players, so he knows how they play," said Adams. "He’s just been showing me, not tricks, but the basic fundamentals of NBA play. Like, you can get away with a lot more physicality and throwing a lot more [elbows] around. He’s just showing me that side of things and separation on the court. How to use the 3-point line." ESPN.com

NBA Draft 2013: Steven Adams impresses Celtics in workout

By Trevor Zickgraf on May 27 2013, 3:06p

    USA TODAY Sports

Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga says Adams showed off more skill than expected in his weekend workout with the team

With the NBA Draft just one month away, teams will be shuffling players in and out for workouts. Saturday, the Boston Celtics brought in Pittsburgh center Steven Adams, along with five others.

    Complete NBA Draft coverage

According to Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga, Adams was very impressive, showing off more skill than the Celtics realized he had in his only year at Pitt (H/T to Jay King of MassLive.com).

"I thought he was great today," Larranaga said, according to ESPN Boston. "I think he showed his size and athleticism, which is what most people first see. He competed, and he showed a high basketball IQ. I think through these workouts, he's shown maybe more skill than people realized he had during his year at Pittsburgh. He was just a lot of fun to work with."

The buzz around the New Zealand native started at the draft combine in Chicago, where his measurements -- seven feet tall with a 7'5 wingspan and a 33-inch max vertical -- turned some heads.

Adams would fit well next to the Celtics, who lacked much size next to Kevin Garnett. He's also viewed as a prospect with some of the most upside as he's relatively new the game.

DraftExpress currently has him going number 16 to the Celtics, though it's possible he could rise into the late lottery.

Shabazz, Adams, Larking, Plumlee, or any combination of these guys is very doable for Celtics...

Scoring and Bigs...Larking looks and plays a lot like Curry...
