JON = offensive skills, good FT shooter, bad knee/body.

perkins: solid like a rock, bad offensive skills, regular FT's.

Then we also have Shaq and Semih... can't we just keep them all? Why get rid of one?

They need to hold on to all of their bigs.  Not one is a sure bet to finish the season healthy.  Shaq and Perk can play the lion's share of the 48 minutes, Erden can fill in when needed and JON can probably float between the 4 and the 5.  Why is having too many big men an issue?

You can never have too many bigs, especially when all four on the roster have health and/or age issues.

Please explain this to some of the posters here who want to practically give Jon  away with draft picks for a marginal better player than Daniels.  Seems everyone isn't happy with the second best record in the league as well as a huge winning streak.  funny thing is we have needed every big man we have on the roster and still we have been short handed but we still want to get rid of some of them.  INSANE

Che, we cannot give any of our bigs away.  Right now, we don't have ONE consistently healthy center but shortly (when Perk returns) we'll have 3 (all prone to injury).  It may take 3 centers to complete a 48 minute game.

We will need ALL THREE bigs AND Erden.  We cannot be guaranteed that ANY of the bigs will be healthy enough to play 30 minutes in any game.  Therefore we'll need them all to provide 48 minutes of solid center play.

Ever notice why a drag racer do burn outs before racing?
A tires needs to be hot to hook-up. How can you win a drag when tires are cold?

How can you possibly divide minutes with 5 bigs (+ part time baby)? How can you make their adrenalin rush?
The worse thing you can do is substitute a cold player in an intense final minutes.
Especially Perks--- his cold hand luke "manos de pierda",
his multiple steps - can't dunk - can't shoot -- yep, he is notorious when cold.
He needs multiple "T's" and some ugly look before he can be effective.

    Re: Wow! Perkins is close...

Perkins has from January till June to get in shape and back in the flow before the playoffs start.  He won't be cold, he has a lot of time to get back into game shape.  Shaq is limited in how many minutes he can play, Erden has a bum shoulder, JON has been hurt and can probably play the 4 and 5 if healthy, and BBD will continue to be the primary guy behind KG at the 4.

Range of minutes each of these guys could be avilable per 48 minutes:

    Center

    Shaq: 16-20 mpg
Perk: 12-16 mpg (as he recovers)
    Erden/JON: 12-18 mpg

    PF

    KG 26-28 mpg
    BBD 18-22 mpg
    JON 4-6 mpg

It is folly to think that Shaq and JON are not going to miss more games.  Perk will be needed just to make up for the minutes available when Shaq and JO sit out.  This team will need every big body at its disposal.  These guys are playing for a championship, no one is going to complain about being a role player.  In fact, every center on the roster is a role player, including Perk.

I doubt Perk is really very close... My guess is mid Feb.

Id certainly hang on to every big on the team. Like someone posted, we cant feel good about any of them holding up the entire season.

Che makes a good point about having enough minutes for all those bodies. With Shaq/Perk/JON/Erden... someone not getting much time..if at all.

My guess is..when everyone is back.. Doc minutes will be

    Erden rots on the bench..

Shaq starts (im praying) and plays 20-23 mins reg season/ 25+ playoffs, when nec

    Perk 15-20

    JON 10 center... 5 PF

The only number this team has been focused on has been the number 18 and not the number of minutes being played by anyone.
The only problem I'm seeing is Doc trying to figure out how to best use all the talent he's going to have available.  Plus, with this team, you never know if and how long somone is going to be healthy.
Get em all healthy.  Keep em all. Play em all.

It seems that Perk will be coming off the bench, whic isa good thing.  We need defense on that unit.

Don't push the panic button guys. The situation will shake out and I have confidence that the management/coaching staff will make the right decisions. A pre-emptive move now would be very foolish considering the fragile health of this team. Sit tight!

Posted by CHEisCHE[/QUOTE]Perkins is returning from major surgery. You can't expect much from him this season. He won't be able to play major minutes. Semih Erden has a left shoulder injury that requires surgery. Now, he's playing with a sore groin muscle. Shaq is game-to-game due to a host of injuries he's nursing. JON, as we all know, can be healthy today and out for the next weeks due to some injury. The point is, we don't have the luxury of letting go of any of our bigs. Most teams would love to be in our situation. Case in point is Orlando which is struggling even more after trading Gortat. A healthy JON can also spell KG and BBD at the power forward position. JON has a decent offensive game, so he can play alongside Shaq, Perk or Erden.

If you are a true Celtics fan, then please stop insulting the players. Accept the team as the management and coaching staff sees fit. Ask yourself the question, "Are you as good or better at what you do than these athletes at what they do?" Better still, the NOH will eventually be sold by the NBA. Why don't you save up to buy that team so you can run it your own way and insult the players as much as you want.

we'll be lucky to have jerlame standing at the end of the season, so let's forget about him taking 4 minutes from davis!!  keep jerlame at 15 mins a game to see what falls off of him next and just save whatever he has for the playoff run.
