The first pitch in the 2007 baseball season is just around the corner. The Globe's Jason Claffey provided a snapshot of the season with this preview.
So what are your predictions for the 2007 season? Can St. John's Prep get back to the Division 1 title game? Will Harwich and Somerset repeat as champions? Will BC High win yet another state title in a boys' sport this year? And let's not forget Andover with All-Scholastic Dan Godefroi.

why would anyone put Boston English and Brighton in the top 20? Are those sympathy votes for city schools?

How can u guys put Catholic Memorial at #8 the Knights return arguable the best pitcher and hitter in the state in Brenden Chapin and Marc Perdios...they also return all of there players from last years squad except one outfeilder...
im not saying they should be #1 but ATLEAST a top 5 ranking

I guess the difference is that Dan Ventura actually goes to high school games while
the lazy reporters at the Globe call across the street to BC High and ask what do you
want to be ranked. CM is clearly #1 at the start 7 starter back along with top 3 pitchers.
City schools ( English & Brighton) should not be ranked in the top 20 ever.

If rankings don't mean anything to you don't post any info. Rankings might not mean that much
but the seeding for tournaments is rediculous they go by won lost record so someone like
Boston English goes 19-1 in an absurd league gets the no#1 ranking while someone like
CM BC High and MC beat each other up and are seeded 8 or 9 without a home game. If the
Globe is trying to sell papers and make every community happy then don't put rankings in the
paper. By the way CM pounded Newton North in a scrimmage, they are not very good # 6
is a joke.

do you knitwits realize you're arguing about hs baseball. hs baseball in the norhteast is a joke....and always has been. most of the better athletes are now playing lacross. (This is coming from a former hs\college baseball player who realizes that nowadays baseball is trying to compete with more accessible sports such as lax.)
Sorry folks......your time has passed.......

Yo shizzthewizz, if u think the GBL is the best conference then no one should pay any attention to anything u say bcuz ur a joke buddy. Everybody needs to stop whining about the rankings, they don't mean anything. The only thing that means anything is the playoffs, and once we get there teams like BC High, SJP, and CM will stomp on all teams like Andover, Peabody, North Attleboro, and Brockton who think their sick bcuz they received a top 20 ranking.

What do you mean by more accessible? What sport is more accessible than Baseball.
There are plenty of prospects in the Northeast that will go on to college and Pro Baseball. How many
will have access to College & Pro LAX if there is even a league still. While there are many
good athletes palying LAX, some of them have been cut from baseball teams. By
the way this is coming from a former Pro Baseball Player and Coach. NIT WIT

There's no such thing as a free ride to Wheaton or any other D3 school. They can give you financial aid or grants to cover your tution, but there are no athletic scholarships to D3 schools. They are probably just promising him lots of money to cover tuition.

throwing the hell out of the ball during infield. He is scheduled to pitch today against Belmont Hill
