    Aaron Dobson is getting better...

The Patriots' leading receiver over the past three games is not Gronk, Edelman or Amendola. Aaron Dobson has a team-high 13 catches and 157 yards in that span.

Throw in one TD as well...

i think the drops are down too- it'd be good to have the stats: number of targets, catches , drops for each game

Ya know, we have to understand this rookie took the spot from another rookie, and he is contributing to this team.  He looked solid last week against Miami, and an All-Pro in Grimes was covering him... I guess i am glass half full.... whatever.

Re: Aaron Dobson is getting better...

Dobson has definitely improved. Not ready to call him a pro-bowler or even a reliable option, but the route on that touchdown was sweet, and the catch over the middle where he extended for the ball was really good to see. Not many players have the guts to lay out like that over the middle.

Hope he can keep it going. If he can turn into just a 4 catches for 50 yards on a consistent basis type of guy, while limiting his drop count, this offense can turn a corner. You know Gronk will get his catches, Amendola/Edelman will get their catches, and once Vereen is back, Brady will have an explosive check-down option out of the backfield.

This offense will look completely different after the bye. Think 2010 after the bye, where they went to Pittsburgh and put on a clinic, and were a totally different team from there on out.

I agree with you Getzo. I have always liked Dobson and think he is doing very well. I would like to see them call a couple deep routes for him.

at the rate he has played over the last three games,  he would have 70 catches and over 800 yards for 16 games. not bad.

Brady just missed him twice, and he ran a weird route twice while wide open deep.  When these guys get more on the same page... good things will happen.

Be careful Getzo, I've heard it said in the past day or so while making an optimistic post that if you're a glass-half-full guy you're not a real fan.  Why you may ask?   Because real fans get angry at their team and spout and vent while all frothy-mouthed behind their keyboard - they never post and tell people to look on the bright side of things.

I agree that Dobson is looking better BTW.  Maybe I'm too optimistic for some of the crowd here.

with all the noise about the pass catchers the past few weeks, those of us not watching the TV feed (we are at the stadium) do see 1 WR getting seperation, and that is Dobson. not Gronk, not Edelman, not Amendola, not Thompkins. TB is looking his way more and more, BECAUSE HE IS OPEN.

I have actually been disappointed with Amendola so far. Granted injuries. But if he is always going to be injured, when he is on the field, he needs to produce. So far, I dont see ant seperation, any speed and he has dropped too many passes that hit his hands. I expected more, and by the financial commit made, you have to assume the Pats did as well

He's become a much better route runner, looks like Brady is starting to trust him more too. Dobson, Amendola, Edelman and Gronk with a healthy Vareen and Ridley are a great line-up.

I agree... when on the field I was expecting way more from him.  I mean he was a beast against Buffalo with those shots he took, while still holding onto the ball.  He was coming off a pretty bad concussion.. hopefully he stays healthy and gets back to that week one form.

I agree. Healthy or not. I dont like the Amendola signing going forward. I liked the signing on paper but this guy leaves a lot to be desired. He has already said he wont stop playing 100 miles an hour so isnt he basically saying, Im always gonna be hurt, deal with it? Brady seemed to be really mad about his drop too. Ijs, the whole thing looks bad now. We could have just rolled the dice with Eds and brought in Collie earlier and we would be about the same. 5 years of him going in and out the lineup and coming back rusty and slow is gonna get old...matta fact it already is old. I know its crazy but I would cut my losses, admit a mistake and release him next year. Thats a bad signing. Period. Eat it and start over.

I am told by good source that the Pats hope is to have 2 of 3 always on the field...Edelman, Collie and Amendola...that way they can continue to run the offense that they want, and not rely on young players making young mistakes...

I had said over the summer that the upside with Dobson was immense, ditto Boyce...but we were seeing the ceiling on Thompkins, and I think he is a nice #5 WR if they carry 6 (Slater)...I very much feel Dobson, Edelman, Amendola and Collie are taking snaps ahead of Thompkins. He is nice depth however.

Guys, lay off Danny. He's a very good WR, I think the groin is still effecting him and that's why seperation has been tough. Give it time to heal, he might be closer to 100 after the BYE.

Boyce is the most talented of the group, but he might also be the dumbest since he can't sniff the field.

I think of it differently I guess. Even if KT has reached his ceiling. A young Chad Johnson aint a # 5 option. He has the tools to be a decent # 1 or a very good # 2 imo. That doesnt change based on who Brady is throwing to. At the beginning of the season, based on Training camp I had said that KT was the clear # 1 with the leg up. Dobson was close behind and would likely pass him at some point when he picked up offense and Boyce would redshirt(I can go back and find it) but everyone was on me about it. So far its been true. Dont discount the rookie Wall factor as well. They should be using them one at a time to last the season and right now the focuz is more on Dobson. Joshy needs to get KT involved more but I have him graded better than a # 5.

This team has all the tools going forward but they need a legit Vet WR who is on the field, not Danny. Then the rest will fill complimentary roles as they should. How many teams count on 3 rookie WRs one season whom noone were 1st picks?? Probably none. Its not Ideal and its showed.

are you in essence saying you think Collie is a better player than KT? Maybe more fresh and smarter in terms of knowing NFL systems, but next year KT is gonna be breaking out and Collie is gonna be at home..

Thats it man, I dont think he is ever gonna be right for an extended amount of time. Thats why the Rams moved on. We were probably the only suckas throwing him money. BB himself said he covets Availability and Reliability over Ability so by his own words, he should cut ties after the year. He is just gonna be a tease for 5 years Imo.

Thompkins has half the hands of Chad Johnson, and is a step to a step and half slower than Chad when he was with the Bengals. To compare Thompkins to Chad with the Bengals is an insult to CHad. Good route runner, slow, questionable hands, slow to grasp the offense.  Not a young WR, as he is 26 years old I believe, not a ton of upside due to age
