Bengals eye Larry Johnson to back up Ced Benson

With former Bear Cedric Benson ailing, the Bengals are flying in former Chiefs running back Larry Johnson today and expect to sign him to provide depth at the position.
Benson left Sunday's game against Pittsburgh in the second quarter because of a hip injury, but said hoped to be back for Sunday's game at Oakland.
Citing a source close to the negotiations, ESPN's Michael Smith reports that a deal, if consummated, is expected to be for the prorated league minimum.
The Chiefs released Johnson -- who rushed for a team-record 1,789 yards on an NFL-record 416 carries in 2006 -- last Monday, the day he was due back from his second (two-week) suspension in the past 12 months. His last brush with controversy came two weeks ago when he posted on his Twitter account a gay slur, insulted followers and questioned the competence of head coach Todd Haleyhttp://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/11/bengals-eye-larry-johnson-to-back-up-ced-benson.html

Maroney will get 30 yds in 15 carries and then state how he's ready to hit the hole hard next game and ready for some downhill running.
