Brady and the QB Rating system

Brady completed 29 of his 34 passes for 380 yards and six touchdowns for 11.9 yards per attempt.  He ended up with a QB rating of 152.8

The perfect QB rating is 158.3

Where did he go wrong?  Did he not throw enough TD's?  Was his yards-per-attempt too low?  What exactly is the formula for QB ratings?

Who knows, but he already posted a 158.3 rating with 6 TD's in a game before.  Remember the game at Miami in '07? That's when he did it.

I guess he didn't get the extra 0.5 on it because he didn't come back in after a backup QB started choking away a lead. lol

Not really, but if there was ever a day that I thought Brady would have a perfect passer rating, I thought it would be today.

If his rating wasn't perfect today I'll live with it.

We've seen him do similar feats before but never when he's come off injury. This kind of performance should scare the hell out the league!

yards per attempt. you need at least 12.5 for a perfect rating; brady only had 11.2.

i think completion percentage is also part of the equation.

Re: Brady and the QB Rating system

there are 4 criteria in the qb rating system:

    completion percentage
    minimum for perfect rating: 77.5%
    brady vs. titans: 85.3%

    yards per attempt
    minimum for perfect rating: 12.5
    brady vs. titans: 11.2

    attempts per touchdown
    maximum for perfect rating: 8.42
    brady vs. titans: 5.67

    interceptions
    maximum for perfect rating: 0
    brady vs. titans: 0

on the flip side, even with his horrible game, kerry collins didn't end up with a 0 rating because he didn't achieve the minimum interceptions per attempt of 9.5% (he "only" had 8.3%). vince young did get a 0 rating, though.
