Chicago Tribune's Classy Gesture to City of Boston

Don't want to get involved in the political discussions going on but I thought this was nice gesture by another big sports town.

Also, shout out to Danny Amendola.  Already one of my favorite Pats.

    Pure Class

"We are like you. We know that sports are often the ties that hold us together, that give us a way to talk about the things we care about when other words fail. We know sports can be fun — even in losing. Boys, do we know. We know that anybody who says it doesn't matter whether the Cubs or Sox are in the World Series so long as it's a Chicago team isn't truly a fan of either team. We know. But on Monday, we were reminded again how fragile it all can be. The explosions and injuries and death at a world-class sporting event such as the Boston Marathon makes us heartsick. As much as it is anathema for a Chicago fan to root for any other town — especially Beantown and all of its championship rings — here we are. Hang in there, Boston."

Lived in Chicago for 5 years. Great city, probably my favorite (next to Boston) in the country.

Many similarities from the political landscape, the people themselves, the way city is in terms of the lay out (Storrow Drive is like a mini Lake Shore Drive), the sports teams have some kindred connection, etc.

If you ever want a really fun weekend away from where you live, select a weekend anywhere from mid May through October and enjoy.

Chicago is a great city.  I have family that lives in Chicago and it is a terrific city to visit.  Have been to Chicago many times on vacation.

There has been a huge outpouring of sentiment from sports teams and figures today.

Under the circumstances support is all one cam do. I think the Tribune's is special, 'We are with you' put into meaningfull words.

Re: Chicago Tribune's Classy Gesture to City of Boston

My grandparents grew up in the New England area, but I was born and raised in Canada. As a Canadian watching the events unfold yesterday, I would just like to say I completely admire the city of Boston for proving that as much evil as there is in the world, there is always more good. The people of Boston definitely proved that yesterday. Even though Canada is just the U.S's little brother, I feel like we are more then just neighbours and we are in this together. I know that Boston will come back stronger then ever.

    Take care!

The Yankees played 'Sweet Caroline' after the 3rd inning of their game at Yankee Stadium tonight with Arizona along with a moment of silence. The Yankee's fans song along.
