Here's a free lesson on these scary salary cap cuts....when you cut a guy four years into a five year contrat to save cap space, what you end up doing is ridding yourself of a player that has grown old and ineffective. The plus side to this is that you got to use them (which the Giants sure did) and dump them (which the giants sure did). They just cleared 14 million in cap space in two days by ridding themselves of players they don't even want anymore. Didn't you say that was impossible? I told you a team could clear millions in cap room over a weekend - you said no way...I was living in a dream world. Now here we have a well known, successful GM do it in two days. How does that happen, rusty? How?!
No, I didn't say anything was impossible. I said it has adverse affects on your roster afterwards, which it does, barring a team having replacements ready to be slam dunk starters immediately, which is beyond rare.
Just like when everyone is asking RKarp what the moronic Jets are going to do if they cut 9 starters, what good is it? I'd be mortified if BB had to replace 9 starters.
So, the Jets are going to have people on their roster to be better than the vets that they had starting last year? Really? Who would want to go there? How do you know their crapy receent drafts have people waiting in the wings with no experience? The fact is, they don't and they won't have a lot of money to spend on FAs anyway.
The fact you have to cut players before the contracts expired means you didn't pay them correctly to begin with and you're risking the status quo of your team in terms of quality.
Apparently they overpaid those vets for a reason, none other than the idea they didn't have anyone to do the job from within in the first place.
Not a hard concept, but it is for morons who bake cakes for 7th graders for a living, apparently.
Just think if Brady wasn't bad last postseason or this year, the Giants and Ravens short term roll of the dice, backfires.
Don't expecct the Giants or Ravens to be contending for a SB next year. These cuts your seeing right now are reasons why.
This isna't the NBA, the NHL or MLB baseball where the rosters are smaller and you can interchange players easier.
11 men on a side where continuity is vital.
So the giants over payed vets and didn't know what they were doing? Glad you cleared that up, maybe they can hire a well established GM that can build their team into something that can win a Super Bowl? Bawahahahaha!!!!!
geez, apparently the Raven's GM doesn't know what he is doing either...what's his name again? Oh yeah, Ozzie Newsome! Boy that guy is an amature, someone needs to fire him and replace him with a guy that can build a team for Super Bowls. Lol!
