Gostkowski carries a $3 million cap hit for 2013 and $3.4 million cap hit for 2014. He missed 6 field goals this year, tying a career high from his rookie year, but he also hit a career-high 15 from 40-plus yards.

Knowing BB yes they will bring competition in for the Kicking job! Gostkowski has a high cap and might just be on the chopping block, you never know! The very least BB will do is ask Gostkowski to take a pay cut and bring in some competition.

find a guy packing supermarket shelves who can kick far andhave accuracy for a year (kicker version of kurt warner) tongue slightly in cheek. -

sure, why not? competition is a good thing for every position on the team. But, the kicking game - even in it's current condition - is not in the top three for priorities (to me).
DE/OLB depth, OL, defensive backs, a tall physical WR all rate as a higher priority. Kick/punt return game is up there, but, mebbe Demps will take care of that one.

Be careful what you wish for. San Fran, for one, would kill for a decent kicker.
This ain't the year to waste picks on bringing guys in to challenge of all things...a kicker who is pretty solid.
We have no picks in the 4th, 5th and 6th rounds. This will prevent us from re-stocking our bench with solid back ups that we really need.
The Patriots showed up on National TV and promptly pizzed their pants and somehow Gostkowski needs to be challenged...
Bring in someone undrafted..sure...even when Adam was here they did that...
Otherwise Gostkowski is the least of this teams issues.

Usually they bring in a guy to do some of the kicking so they dont burn the kickers leg out. We can have up to 80 guys so they should bring in competition for everyone. -

What would,be the cap hit if cut Or traded? If we can save 2+ million next year and get similar production, yes. I would look to trade him for a day 2/3 pick. God knows we need those and if we can save money to put into another position of need then great.

Kickers....Great one year...suck the next....great clutch long kick one game.....choke on a short kick the next. Unless you have a machine that sees into the future all you can do is judge them one kick at a time.
Bring some in to satify Babe. After all he knows everything about football -
