If this is true offer him a one year incentive laden deal and see if he takes it. if not move on you can't over pay for a guy his age but at the right price a decent Idea.

Hopefully he will be interested to play in NE for one yr.  Getting him out of Miami area though, is another story.

I agree but at this point, I'm sure that a) he wants to give it a shot with the Patriots and b) Belichick's wanting to make a move with this as well. The mutual respect and admiration has always been there. Taylor and Brady are really good friends off the field. I know he wants to win a ring and this may be his better chance. I hope we can make this happen.

If Taylor wanted to play in New England he would have come up last year. He said he didn't want to leave Florida. Why would that be any different this year?

Last year he was wanted back and he was coming off a year where the Dolphins won the division. If the quote by Sparano above is any indication, he's not wanted back this year. If that's the case then why not come to New England? Right now, he also has to be telling himself that the Dolphins are clearly the THIRD best team in the division.

Miami wanted him back last year.....this article is saying that they are not looking at him this year....what will he do, play in Jacksonville or Tampa?  He could retire, but I am thinking that he still has the desire to play.....

He has to get in line behind seau :)

I'm okay if Patriots don't even vie for his services, but he's (yet) another year older - another year slower.

Yes, it'd be nice to have his leadership, but I'd like for the younger players continue to develop their leaderships skills on the field next year. If we are committing to youth, then we may as well continue on that path

Exactly. I'm not saying to go get him as a major contributor but he can be a serviceable 3rd down player and he also brings the attitude and work ethic we're trying to teach the younger players. What could possibly be negative about this move, if he comes at a reasonable price?

The talk about him not wanting to play for an enemy is bogus. He was in talks with the Patriots last year until Miami finally caved in.

Its funny to hear how some of you are negative toward Seau. Look at the games he has played for us and you will find he was the best LB whenever he was on the field...even at the age of 40. By the way I dont think J. Taylor will ever have the same impact as Seau did. Seau had a passion that is very rare in the NFL today. He was on a mission...I dont think J. Taylor want the SB ring as bad as Seau did.

How'd the pats do against that very team? They got beat worse than the dolphins did...that's what you'd call ironic. Miami was also missing 9 starters due to injury and had the nfl's second youngest team playing last year.I don't think anybody is going to walk to the division title, but to list the dolphins clearly as a third place team in the division is nonsense. This Dolphin team with all of it's injuries and the nfl's toughest schedule swept the Jets and split with the pats.

Jason Taylor would certainly be a fine addition for the Pats.  Brining in Jason for the vet minimum make more than enough sense.  He will certainly help the much, much, much, much, needed pass rush for the Pats.  He's versatile because of his speed and quickness.  And just because the Dolphins didn't make the playoffs is no argument for not taking Taylor.

I'm not saying Taylor is a pro-bowl DE anymore, but the Pats aren't going after one anytime soon.  So why not pick up taylor as insurance.  No risk, max reward.  The issue will be if Taylor wants to play in NE.
