    Feeling GOOD about 2-0

Seems a LOT of people around here have a big problem with the Pats. Many of the talking heads as well.

I heard someone on TV, maybe radio, commenting that BB actually seemed almost happy in the post game conference on Thursday, and was surprised.

    But, why WOULDN'T he be?

His team is 2-0, both division wins.

The D has looked very good. Can only play who's in front of you, so save it.

Would it be nice to watch Brady zipping the ball to all-pros on the outside and in the slot? Sure it would!

Am I going to complain that he isn't?

    NO!

2 games in and people want to feel bad for the uber-rich, super model marrying, 3 ring having, very fortunate Mr Tom Brady for having to 'deal with rookies'.

Poor him, and poor us, right?

    NO!

This is the NFL. You are ENTITLED to NOTHING, you DESERVE NOTHING. At some point while playing QB for 13 years....you're going to have some questionable WR corps! This makes season TWO for Brady, the only other being 06. And. People. Complain.

How many bad mental mistakes were being made? Yes, rookies ran wrong routes at times...I'm sure they are the only rookies in the history of the NFL to do that, so please, freak out over it.

How many bad penalties? How many off-sides or false starts on 3rd downs? How many PI or illegal contact calls? How many broken Ds? When has a S been grossly out of position? A LBer?

This TEAM is playing very sound football, and nobody seems to notice. Rather focus on young rookies, and one RB who has hands made of margarine. And injuries. It's definitely worth taking time to lament injuries in the NFL too.

Drops? On a rainy night? Noooo....

I saw very encouraging signs. Thompkins and Dobson, for all their struggles...run very precise and crisp routes...even to the wrong place at times. I STILL have faith in Dobson's hands. He caught a quick slant late, went for about 15 yards, and a few things I noticed:

-He got of the line very well, and made a hard, good inside move

-It was a fastball from Brady, and Dobson effortlessly reached his hands out IN FRONT of his body, and caught it, in stride, very naturally. It's all-too-rare to see WRs in the NF not need to catch it against their body.

It seems obvious to me that the kid is overthinking it right now. No better example than when Brady almost drilled him with a pass 15 yards down field he almost didn't get his head around to see. These options rtes are a BTCH, and he's obviously struggling with that. Add to that the pressure of Playing in front of BB, for TB, and on national television, at home, in the rain, in his FIRST GAME EVER...I'll cut him a little slack. Seems reasonable.

Even as that game was close late, and the NYJ had the ball...I was never nervous. Sure it's the Jets, but for the first time in a few years, I had unshakeable confidence that the D would do what they needed to do.

Chandler Jones seems to be right back where he was. To see him getting pressure from the INSIDE was football porn to me. It is going to be fun watching him wreak havoc all season.

McCourty looked very comfortable in the secondary, and I've been pleased with the Hydra of Talib/Dennard/Arrington.

The LBs are one of the better groups in football.

We now have a solid base of players who have actually been together for about 3 straight years (Wilfork, Mayo, McCourty, Spikes, Arrington, Nink). It's been a while since they've had that continuity in good starters.

So, sit back and relax. It's early, this O will play a LOT better as this season rolls along. And I think people will start to realize that it's not just the opponents, this D is also very good.

I think most people are happy to be 2-0 but probably realise had they played anyone other than Bills and Jets they lose. You can only play what's infront of you but if Pats go into games against Sanfran,Seattle,Baltimore,Denver with the same playing group they did against the Jets they would get slaughtered.

Dobson over thinking is the same as saying the system sucks, so why didn't you post in that thread.  Sorry if the n-word was breached ( negative that is ----nooooooo).

News flash- criticism is healthy when received with an open mind and digested.  You're being negative as well but choose to criticize us.  People that ignore criticism entirely like yourself, tend to walk into death spirals and such.  watch out for that.

I'm happy, giddy even that pats are 2-0.  and have posted that fans should get their giddy schoolgirl plaid skirts on.  Joking of course since this team has real problems and the 2-0 record is fortunate not something to hang your hat on and boast about...  Hmmm. .. Who would do that...

So my approach is start at the top which is the leadership, the coaching, the strategy the structure and yes the system, that these athletes are being jammed into.  If you're not seeing the diminishing returns then the glasses are a bit rosy.  I too want to see Dobson develop, but you know who else, McDaniels, and Belichick also.  Loosen the thinking caps a bit and give the players a game plan that is brilliant in its simplicity , not so much the esoteric convoluted attempt to derail every defense ever invented on every single play.

This is the NFL and they have 120+ mil to not spend on crap.  The Pats have only spent 110.

When you have 4 rookie receivers starting, THAT IS CRAP!

I am not even going to fault the receivers.  They haven't had time to develop but the fact that the NE Pats has nothing to fall back on, besides them, is horrendous.

Every one and their grand mothers knew Amadola would be injured and Gronk wouldn't be ready.  Plan B , should NOT be starting rooks who obviously aren't ready.

Edelman will be hurt too.  What then?

Go ahead and be happy with them squeaking by 2 poor teams who actually beat themselves.

Some of us expect more from this management.

    It's not entitlement.  It's reality.

I love when people post stuff like this.  How exactly does someone run a crisp route?  What could that possibly mean?

How can someone run a precise route...to the wrong place?

The rest of that post is turd.  It shows a clear lack of understanding, mixed with a few shots at Brady.

Yeah, they're 2-0.  They're supposed to be 2-0.  The Jets and the Bills are jokes.

I hear ya, Dragon. If Dobson catches a couple of thse deep balls and Thompkins makes that insane endzone catch, peoplewould be saying that the rookies are great.

They got open for the most part throughout the game. The drops were bad and are certainly a cause for concern. It also didn't really start raining until thebsecond half. However, the rookies were known for their hands when we picked them up. At least Dobson was. That makes me believe that it is a combination of nerves and mental mistakes. I think the game is so fast and complex right now that they are struggling becauseof that. Now all of New England wants them flogged, so they are probably even more on edge.

I think it is too early to really blame them. If don't show improvement by the week 5 game then sure, criticize all you want. I still think it would be helpful to get a vet to help guide them along.

    The D looks very promising.

Agreed, Thompkins looked better this week. Should be even better against The Buccs. Dobson had 0 drops last season, he didn't forget how to catch. He stretched the field and got open enough times for you to see his potential.

2-0 for tthe season, 2-0 in the conference, 2-0 in the division. Improve a week at a time and hope the kids are good to go by week 17. That's 15 more weeks and nearly 4 more months to go.

If they played anyone else but Bills and Jets, it would have been a totally different game and gameplan. From what I've seen of the defense I would seriously doubt the Pats would get slaughtered by any of the teams, other than SF, that you list. Last years D held Denver and they only lost by 1 to the Ravens and Seahawks neither of which have looked very good so far.

After today, the following teams have a chance to be 0 - 2....

WAS, NYG, GB, MIN, CAR, ATL, ARI, BUF, JAX, OAK, SAN and Half of the AFC North...

Where would we rather see the Pats?  I, personally, like the fact the team IS 2 - 0 !!!!

Actually the route running has been very sloppy at times. The slant by Thompkins was terrible. Dobson ran a terrible circle route. It doesn't mean they stink ... but they aren't running 'crisp routes' right now. Some are good, others not, and yet others they run to the wrong position in the field.

I agree about feeling good about 2-0 ... NE stole a win or two.

Look, this is them at their worst on offense. It only stays the same or gets better from here. And they've come away with TWO divisional wins/conference wins.

When things come together later this season, those could be tiebreakers. And neither the Jests nor the Bills will have such an easy go of it next time around.

Sorry to say it too, because I hate jinxing theings. But if NE is going to drop games ... dropping them to NFC South teams is the best option ... as it means nothing to the playoff race outside of a loss.

I'd rather they save their nut-up performances for when they have to face Denver.

    Re: Feeling GOOD about 2-0

I think the point that 2 wins is 2 wins and nothing more is well taken. Thankfully not 0-2 as you then have only a 10% chance of making it to the SB.

As I have said we are pretty much stuck with the cards we have been dealt.

It will take time for the kids to get up to speed but this needed time will cost us a few games. Hopefully not many as home field is everything in the big show.

The Amendola points are fair and no one should be blamed for questioning the move to bring him here. In my world the sum of your testing is called a result. A result born out over 2 years is called a probability to a 95% certainty. Amendola has missed more than half of the last 2 seasons...ergo a statistically probability of 95% that the testing of said sample will yield the same result. Did we not just learn this with Dowling? Yes, It just really hurts right now to have it happen.

I'm greedy...I want that 4th SB, the PATS need that 4th SB. Anything less is a failure for me as long as Brady is at the helm....time is short....and the result of the 2 game test has shown we may be in deep doo doo....

If this is negative....so be it.....

And I'm still waiting for you Mod(s)

NoMore...   did ANYONE think the Pats, given how they won those first 3 SBs, would then go the next 8 seasons not winning at least another?  With Brady and BB still part of the team?  Proof positive how difficult it is to capture that holy grail of football!

    In response to FrankDooley's comment:

I started a thread MaDragon, called "Groundhog Day" referencing the media swarming like flies, but just rememenber they do this every September in some way shape or form.

In 2011, they used the BB sucks angle is ruining it for Brady off the lockout with a young D with no camp, and then we ended up in the SB.

Last year, Talib trade, Dennard, Jones and HIghtower appeared to be thefts in the draft, and we were right there again as the media focused on yards allowed in the air.

This year, with the D looking top 10 quality on paper, they know they can't do that, so they've focused on the Amendola injury, on the heels of BB needing a crystal ball with Hernandez.

Note how they ignore the fact Gronk is scheduled to return on Sunday.

They were first round picks.  Is Belichick so bad at drafted that first round picks are thefts?  A theft would be TY Hilton at #92.

Yes but beside the point. The holy grail is 4 rings, and TB and BB deserve to be there. yes this team has a place in history but I want it cemented there.
