How the tide has turned.. The D that may be this team's saving grace!!!

Imagine, the D only gave up 13 points to the Bengals and if that is all we knew about the game, how many here would have thought the Pats won?  Better yet, the D has given up an average of just over 12 points per game, (discounting the ST TD scored against the Pats) and this fan base would be saying "Alleluiah" for such a performance by the D YTD.

Given how everyone is saying D wins titles, will this D carry the team this year? Yeah, I know, they have yet to play against the Saints and Broncos, but, didn't every talk about how the Falcons would run roughshod over them in Atlanta?

Seems the D may be the saving grace for this team given the focus in many of the threads here is about the paultry offense and the performance of one future HoF QB named Brady.

Just trying to change the direction of this forum to talk about an improved aspect of the team versus all the doom and gloom about the offense.  Gotta talk about something good!

You are right. I am happy to see the defense playing well. if defenses win sb's, we might have a shot if they keep playing well and no one else goes down. We still need to work out the offensive issues, but if this d keeps opponents in the 15-17 ppg range, our offense once fully charged is more than capable of surpassing opponents.

The media has been ignoring the broncos defense because their offense is lighting it up and gets all the attention. Just like the pats 07 team, where many called the offense the best that ever played. Same comparisons from media, same focus. scoring mega points is sexy and sells tickets and tv. This is the nfl goodelll built. You said the same Russ.

Offense really wins it now, though.  As you can see, 13 points allowed and we still lose just like SB 46.

We simply need to have a good, consistent QB to help us like we used to a decade ago. Brady can do it, he just needs to show it.

We need to have a healthy offense with a good running game to take the pressure off Brady and open the passing game. This is the mistake josh and bb made in the 1st SB loss and Brady got tee'd off on because the gints knew all we would do is pass. This offense when healthy is going to be harder to stop than 07 assuming brady plays well and kids come back and stay healthy.

Rusty, the Pats DO have a top flight QB!  Why do you keep pounding that they don't?  If I recall, that same QB got the Pats into the lead the last two SBs they played in only to see the D give up the leads late in those games.  May not be perfect by your standards, name a QB that is?

AGCSBill, just a fan havin' fun!!

You need receivers who can catch more than 33% of their passes and don't lead the league in drops.  That's what all OFFENSES need.  They catch passes and score TD's.

    What a concept!

You tried to mock Brady not handling his new receivers by pointing out Alex Smith and his NEW receivers with 17 yrs experience.  Well his receivers have 1 drop TOTAL.  ONE!

Too bad BB screwed up the O after screwing up the D for 6 years.  Doesn't he know it takes a COMPLETE team to win SB's?  Not a good O or a good D.  It doesn't work that way.

Might have had a shot this year, with a high ranked O and D, but..........

    Nope, BB fails again.

And if TB is the problem, that makes BB the biggest failure of all.

Maybe he can stick Edelman in there?  EH.???

The D most certainly is a saving grace and truthfully I'm at the point where I'm less prone to get up and have a smoke when they are on the field oppossed to when the offense is.  They are fun to watch, and I can't tell you the last time that was the case.  Defense does indeed win titles, but you still need an O that can move the ball regularly, and we aren't there yet.

One thing I can say, and it makes me less scared of Denver (less mind you, they are still pretty damn scary).  Dallas would have NEVER put 2 points shy of a 50 burger on this D.  Not going to happen.

Stop it. We CHOSE to stop running it this past Sunday. CHOSE.

Stop with the excuses. We chose to bench BJGE in the SB and play Woodhead for shotgun spreads.

BJGE ended up with only 9 carries with a 17-12 and 17-15 lead.   STOP.

The excuses have to come to an end. You need a good D and a top flight QB that doesn't make mistakes or turnover.

BB chose to stop running, not you or we.  YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS TEAM!

    NOTHING!

YOU don't even support it financially by buying tickets or jerseys.

Your BB toys are not official NFL TEAM paraphernalia and don't count.

Come on Russ. You got better than that. We chose to stop running? Who chose? Bb and josh, that's who. Get a grip Russ, your rhetoric and propaganda are wearing thin.
