How to Save the Pro Bowl

it's easy.  go back to the old format of having the game the week or two weeks after the superbowl so that all pro bowlers can compete.  players are still voted in by conference, however that's where the similarities end.  the afc and nfc coaches have a two man draft at some point in the weeks leading up to the game where they can pick pro bowlers from either conference.  this alone will be unprecedented, and will generate great interest and tv ratigs.  this will also invigorate the game with a sense of drama and storyline.  what kind of team would and nfl coach assemble with all pro bowl players at his disposal?  will one or both of them choose a player from another team over a pro bowl player that plays on his regular season team?   all kinds of rifts and miffs would occur, only adding exitement and intrigue to the actual game.  the problem with the pro bowl is the flawed assumption that nfc vs afc is the best way to have these players compete.  it is completely meaningless and boring.  having a two coach allstar draft is an exciting proposition and would give the players a sense of pride to play for, and thus make for entertaining football.

make it midyear and for the winning conferences choice of kickoff or return during the first half (eliminating the coin flip) at the superbowl.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they did away with it all together. Vote for the players and then let a computer play it out or create those teams on Madden NFL.

Don't worry Root...It sailed miles wide of the target-disk, but see it wasn't that you misjudged your sights, It was that you yelled "Pull" to a thrower who was already fast asleep behind the stone wall...and regardless, he had left the clay pigeons in his car.

~NOW on to the subject at hand.....Great Idea?  No.  But see, it's not that your idea was way off (it was though), It's that the NFL is far too conservative to allow for such drama, and potentially highly flammable story-lines that having the 2 Pro-Bowl Coaches select their Team Roster.  Sorry, The NFL's Front Office makes drastic rule changes for 1 reason and 1 reason ONLY...Better Revenue.  1 Game in most probability ain't worth the headaches of trying such an out-of-the-box idea, IF the League Offices believe they can make the Pro-Bowl "almost" as sellable to Us Mass Id!ots, by tweeking a couple of smaller things.
Perhaps, Increasing the difference paid to the Winning Team vs The Losing Team (OR, the Loser's current revenue going to the Winners, & the losers getting NOTHING at all), and maybe the MVP gets a Lamborghini Diablo...and even THAT's too novel.  THINK more along the Lines of whichever conference wins the Pro Bowl, That Conference gets to choose to kick-off or receiver for the Superbowl.  Perhaps Field Events (I'd do a balloon toss), With the Winners getting massively exorbinant all-expense paid trips that they could afford anyway, To the destination of their choosing.  Maybe, seeing as how NFL Playyers these days, tend to place that whole crazy "team-concept" on the back-burner, And like to view themselves as more Important Individuals than the guy they're playin' next too...SO, maybe Players selected to the Pro Bowl, can wear some extra patch on their jersey shoulder, ONLY If they attend.  Maybe, just maybe for minor drama, Each Conference Coach gets to choose each and every Alternate for The Pro Bowl.
ALL This, along with the Corvette giveaway for the ole' raw egg toss winner, would BOTH increase Player Attendance & Public Viewership...

The pro bowl is like going to jail you probably didn't want to but there it is.The best solution is to scrap it and have a demolition derby instead invovling the owners against the players. The winners get to drink all night the losers have to spend a night with paris hilton and her pet gorilla in a 8 by 10 cage with no weapons or pants.
