if the guys NFL career is going to survive this situation, it would appear New England is one of the places he could regroup, and move ahead. Strong locker room, zero media access to players, great coaching. If the guy wants to play again, bring him in this summer and find out if he can help. Worse case he could be great depth/versatile behind what the Pats already have.

If this team stood firm in the Hern situation and Tebow situation, the Martin try out next summer would be pretty easy I would think.

    Agreed.

Also, Let BB & Scarnecchia do an evaluation of how he fits the system and if he is a possibility let Scar coach him up during OTA's and training camp next year to see if he can contribute.

Martin won't be playing for anyone this year. He has a lawsuit to wait out and a big payday coming from the Dolphins and that's going to take some time.  All he needs now is a Doctor's note saying he has suffered mental injury as a result.

Tannehill's been sacked 35 times so everyone on that line sucks.

The Dolphins have said he wont be returning to the team this season, & he's checked himself in to a mental hospital. He's not worth the trouble.

thats the thing though. a 6'5", 325 athlete that can play LT or RT like this guy supposedly could coming out of college, is worth the trouble.

So far he's shown that he's 6'3 325.  The ability to play left or right tackle...not so much.  He got fired from left tackle 2 days before leaving.  His NFL tape trumps his college tape.

Lots of players have been busts on the team that drafted them before the right situation presents itself.  Martin is still young enough that a potential turnaround could happen from a playing perspective.

He's started every game of his professional career.  He wasn't benched, just moved from starting left tackle back to starting right tackle.  Not saying he's the greatest tackle in the league, but any guy who starts every game of his career (until this week, of course) isn't a total washout.

Well this is fun speculation. I have zero insight on Martin's state of mind, but I have no worries about the Patriots locker room or players having any kind of behaivor anywhere close to the idiocy we're reading about Incognito and the Miami locker room.  So yeah- if Martin can fill a need an still wants to play in the NFL- which I hear he does- then why not the Patriots? I'm sure he will be throughly evaluated from head to toe.

    Re: Jonathan Martin to Pats?

The Pats really need someone who ranked 63 out of 65 left tackles in 2012, and then relegated to riding the bench in 2013 when he did not produce after being moved to the right tackle position. He will not play NFL balls anymore. He will just walk off with the money he'll get by suing the Dolphins organiztion..
