Slot receiver.  Not what we need, but any competent receiver is better than nothing I guess.

They are minus their top slot receiver for the immediate future as Welker recovers and Edelman is only a 2nd year guy.  I think a guy like Reed is worth a shot.  I think Bill likes to poach guys from division rivals too.  I could easily see Reed having 30-40 catches here, he knows how to get open.

Just saw that the Bills release Owens and Reed.  I've always liked Josh Reed and wondered if maybe the Pats would be a good fit?

I don't think that they got released, just that they are getting ready to hit free agency.

I would rather have Lee Evans than these other 2......

Reed wouldn't be a bad pickup at the right price. Could fit in the mix somewhere, as a possession guy. He'll be 30 in May, so should have plenty left in the tank. He averages 11.5 yards per catch and rarely fumbles (except 2 against us in 2009).

I would sign him and see what he does in training camp. Like we did with Greg Lewis last year. But whoever said they want Lee Evens can I just ask why? I mean sure he gets credit on the Madden video game but other then that he *sucks. He is blazing fast and what has he ever done with all the speed? I have never once seen him run a route so good that it makes me think is a good WR. He has a name that people recognize but i have never figured out why he has done nothing in te pros. Its like people saying Shockey is a good TE and i sit there and think what the heck are they talking about? Shockey had a good rookie year that was it! Lee Evens can stay in Buffalo.

Well for one, Evans is not a Slot receiver.....

    2) Evans has had a much more productive career than Stallworth or Gaff-me.

    3) he has played every game in his 7 year career....

    4) He has had 800+ to 1200+ yards per year with QB's named Fitzpatrick, Edwards, Dreadsoe, Holocomb, and Losman....imagine what he would do with some guy named Brady throwing to him....and Moss opposite him......

Re: Josh Reed as #3 receiver?

mvp, what has he done?  Well, let's take a look:

    2009Buffalo Bills164461213.938.2507101270
    2008Buffalo Bills16631,01716.163.687T3134462
    2007Buffalo Bills165584915.453.185T5123380
    2006Buffalo Bills16821,29215.880.883T8156531
    2005Buffalo Bills164874315.546.4657107290
    2004Buffalo Bills164884317.652.769T9126381
    TOTAL963405,35615.855.8873972272314
So, he's averaged 15.8 yards per catch for his career, had 6 productive years out of 6 total in a horrible offense with horrible quarterbacks, while not missing a single game to injury or anything else.  Do these numbers look like "doing nothing"? Last year he averaged a career LOW 13.9 yards per catch and 612 total yards receiving despite playing with a 3rd string quarterback.  Lee Evans would be a monumental upgrade to the Patriots.

He also averages about 6 TD's per year.....

He would be better than any #2 WR we have had in a very long time.....

Evans is legit... he is an ideal #2 WR for anyone
and he has played with garbage QB's

Reed is solid but we dont need another slot guy... the spot is edelman and hopefully welker's next season

    Question?

What makes you think the Bills would move Lee Evans?

He is there legit number 1,

If I am not mistaken he is making quite a bit of money too...

He signed a 4 year 37.5 million dollar deal before 2008

His cap number last year was 6.57 million

where do you people come up with this stuff

why would a devision rival give us there best WR?

Im sorry but I gotta agree i am pro-Reed. He's a good player but not great. He will get open and CATCH the ball. We need that period...because Galloway couldnt cut it nor could Aiken or Stanback.

Re: Josh Reed as #3 receiver?

the patriots offense is not based on cutting and catching

the difficulty with there O is the fact that the route changes as the defense audibles

each play has 5 or 6 variations... Galloway could not catch on becasue he could not change his route progression to reflect what the defense looking was providing

For example on the play that TB ripped him... he was pissed becasue Galloway should have ran a slant based on the look and he ran a flag

all there troubles this year were based on smarts

I agree that he would be a great pickup. But I think he will be out of the Pats price range. Some team will overpay for him. And it wont be the Pats.
