I only care about 3 things:

    1) He keep his ignorant mouth shut

    2) He still has a little ability left

    3) Nobody lets him drive a motorcycle around Boston...he'll be dead in a matter of minutes

I am sure he signed an injury waiver/agreement with his knee issues....So probably low risk with a few weeks of depth at TE

Just depth at TE. Smart move if he stays hea;thy. During his time His dad was the best TE I ever saw. I don't expect him to be his dad or Hern, just another stop gap solution til Hern is healthy. With his knee issues he has to know this could be his last shot.

He is very similar to Hernandez - if he can pick up the playbook quickly its a great move.

Re: Kellen Winslow is Back / Just signed

HE has the physical skills but he has never had the work ethic to make those skills into a top  tier performer. The knock on Winslow has been that he just goes through the motions and has been less than a positive locker room guy and he gets injured a lot and uses every ding as a pass for his effort issues. I think he will a better pick up than Ocho Stinko and if he doesn't get with the program he will be gone in 6-7 weeks or sooner. It would be great if his last cut was a wake up call and he has dropped his reputed prima donna act and produce to the level of his exceptional physical skills.

I never could stand him, but everytime I looked the guy was putting up really good production. Who knows, maybe he can help out for a few weeks?

I dont care about his ability but about his effectiveness. Does he make blocks. Does he get open... Does he catch the ball... does he hold on to it when hit... does he give us an advantage...

I sure hope so! Is this new life for another talented but underachieving player?

By the time he learns the playbook Hernandez will probably be ready to return

One thing's for certain, the Pats want to keep atleast two tight ends on the field no matter what if they're bringing  this guy in.

As for the waiver/contract thing...after Week 1, contracts are non-guaranteed. Meaning, they pay him until they cut him...no muss, no fuss.

0 risk in this one with the potential to have a decent return.

Isn't the move a 3 cut (Salas, Hillard, Rivera) and 3 signed (Winslow, Branch and Koutouvides) equal deal.

When it happened I posted that it looked like a 'see you around Thankgiving' injury. I was hoping I was wrong but I think it was close to reality. Remember that Gronk needed surgery. One thing's for certain we need blocking and if Winslow can do that I don't care if he ever gets thrown a pass.
