More proof that Brady is the best QB of his era

Need more proof that Brady is the QB of his generation?

Note that of all the QBs listed in this article below, Brady has played far fewer seasons and games.  Peyton Manning (and yes, this is directed at you, Underoos) has played four more seasons than Brady, but only has this award 20 times, to Brady's 17 times.  I.e., Manning earns it 1.67 times per playing-season, while Brady earns it 1.89 times per playing-season.  Obviously, I am not including 2000 and 2008, when Brady did not play more than a smattering of plays total in each season.

Of all the QBs to recieve this award, Brady is the most frequent recipitent of this award per-game-played.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Underoos, along with whatever phsyco-active drugs you are smoking that give you your "Manning-is-the-greatest-ever" halucinations.

Brady named AFC offensive player of the week (again)

Posted by Shalise Manza Young, Globe Staff December 8, 2010 09:23 AM

www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/extra_points/2010/12/08/brady-jets.jpg">brady-jets.jpgFor the second consecutive week and 17th time in his career, Patriots' QB Tom Brady has been named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week.

Brady was 21-for-29 for 326 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in New England's 45-3 win over the Jets on Monday night.

He got the nod for his Thanksgiving Day performance against the Lions as well, a day when he earned a perfect passer rating.

Since the NFL instituted the weekly awards in 1984, the Colts' Peyton Manning has been honored the most times, at 20; Dan Marino - 18, Brady - 17, Brett Favre - 16, and John Elway - 15 round out the top five.

Re: More proof that Brady is the best QB of his era

If we really want a fair apples to apples comparison between Brady 2001-07,2009-10 and Manning 1998-2006 lets look at their first nine full seasons (still gives Manning a 6 game edge (2 games in 2001, 4 games yet to be played this year). Plus post season and post season awards. Close enough though.

    W-L (reg season)
    Brady  106-32
    Manning 92-52

    Super Bowl Titles
    Brady 3
    Manning 1

    Super Bowl Appearances
    Brady 4
    Manning 1

    Post season record
    Brady 14-4
    Manning 7-6

    TD's regular season
    Brady 252
    Manning 275

    Int's regular season
    Brady 103
    Manning 139

    TD:Int Ratio regular season
    Brady 2.45:1
    Manning 1.97:1

    MVP
    Brady 1
    Manning 2

    Super Bowl MVP
    Brady 2
    Manning 1

So after this season the only thing Manning will have on Brady is still TD's. Brady could very well tie Manning in MVP's after 9 seasons. Then lets see how this post season shakes out.

1A - 1B...  1B - 1A....    just be happy Brady is the QB for the Pats and not someone else.  Do you really care about opinions about the best in the league?  There will never be a consensus.

Ok you didn't actually read my post then. I'm comparing Manning 98-06 and Brady 01-07,09-10 so it's actually their first 9 full seasons in the league.

I couldn't agree more!  If the teams were reversed, we'd be Manning fans bagging on Brady.   That's the wayh it works.  Parochial pride.

They both are all-timers. Brady happens to be ours. I'm happy not to have Hugh Millen or Marc Wilson.

Here's another: Brady is the best cold-weather quarterback in history (since 1960), with a remarkable 18-2 (.900) career record in games played in snow, ice or below freezing temperatures.

    Posted by UD6[/QUOTE]

Not surprised you came back with this UD - will you now admit that this award is more important to Manning then the Lombardi trophy?

Also - I hate MVP awards in all sports - they are no different then the BCS - they are nothing more than a media driven popularity contest - of course, Manning definitely has the edge on Brady when it comes to media boot licking and self promotion

Especially considering Gomer's 2003 and 2009 awards are fraud awards. In 2003, the media forcibly made McNair share it with Gomer.

And, last year?   Drew Brees was absolutely robbed.  The premise that the media is groomed to automatically to think Gomer is the MVP, proves the 2003 and 2009 MVPs are not deserved for Gomer.

You could even argue that Brady was better than Gomer in 2005 with little to run game in each season, yet Brady was incredible.

Totally agree about last year - how can Drew Brees not be the MVP last year - of course it may be the likes of Peter King saying from the 1st week of each season that Manning is the MVP - Manning sure has made THAT relationship work for him - did you see where King reported that Manning and his coach wouldn't talk in the locker room for fear it was being taped  - are you serious Peter King - talk about a boot licker - King needs chlorine bleach to wash Mannings s**t off of his nose and lips
