MB ,thanks for this thread. I think I am in the majority of Pats fan who dont really follow your main thread (albeit the best on the board!) regularly untill February when Pats position is known and who they could select.
Nix at Rd 1 -2 is a viable late #1pick? And is that a real critical need? It appears the good OL guys will be gone and the secondary guys seem to behind him. Will he be as good as Raji?
Also I see you have Eifert at the same level. I know BBs penchant for TEs, and I see Minnesota with an addiction to Notre Dame TEs I think this will force other teams to jump early!
As you can see my college viewing is pretty blue/gold focussed!
thanks again for this thread.
No prob, mg... welcome.
Nix Would be a solid pick anywhere in the top 40, with def Rd 1 upside... he's a big, power, athletic kid that moves well laterally, will battle you on every down, can eat a double and projects as a prototype 34 NT (VW is 31, so while he has some years left, getting his eventual successor in place should appeal to BB), a position that's at a premium in the NFL. He's a draft eligible RS Soph, so he might return to ND... which would be awesome because he and Stephon Tuitt would provide the best 1-2 DL tandem in the country, IMO.
Eifert definitely has Rd 1 talent... kid is big at 6-6 250+, runs well, consistently gets open, catches everything, has excellent ball skills and will high point the football (used a lot around the goal line and in isolation plays) and has really developed as a blocker this year... both inlined and on the perimeter. He's a better prospect than Kyle Rudolph, IMO... and I'd salivate at the thought of running (2) TE sets with Gronk and Eifert in the game. Now, I don't think TE is a need, especially under the assumption that Jake Ballard should be good to go next year, but BB def values the TE position, so he has to be considered, IMO.
I think this class represents some good depth both at S and CB so they should be able to improve the secondary on day 2 if they choose to do so.
