I have to believe they have been working on more than just this.

That is now 7 RB's coming into camp! Green-Ellis (RFA), Woodhead, Clayton, Kettani, Morris, Vereen, Ridley.

I wonder if Morris will be used primarily on special teams....

No, means we have an abbreviated pre-season and Morris is an insurance policy to start the season given 2 of our 7 are rooks, etc.

I'd also say that Clayton and Kettani likely have a small chance to make the 53 man roster.

I hope they're not getting rid of Faulk for Morris although I wouldn't at all be surprised. This really is the most frustrating time of year to be a pat fan, you expect things to happen and they never do!

And would Fred Taylor not have been a better idea if we were going to go out resign an injury prone vet??

I think Fred Taylor was talking about retiring before the lockout.  I think it had to do with his lack of touches last year because of his nagging injuries and BJGE and Woodhead played so good.

I understand Belicheck's ties to the Army and all but come on isn't it time to stop this Kettani/Barnes thing? And resigning Morris brings no value what so ever. I have never heard of any of the rookie free agents, are the spots these people are occupying not better served for real free agents that can come in and learn the system early and provide true value.

I liked Crumpler last year. He fit in very well.

    kaczur however should be gone.

Re: Patriots Releases, FA signings, Draft signings, or Trades

I hope Crumpler stays, but he has a big cap hit and we have 4 tight ends. The only real justification for having him on the 53 and carrying 4 tight ends is his mentoring ability because the other 3 are young. Lee Smith replicates Crumpler's skill set though so it wouldn't at all surprise me. I'd prefer to see him restructure to lower his cap hit and stay on the team. Agreed that Kazcur should be gone, I wouldn't even keep him for depth. His pink slip is two years overdue.

Seventh-round pick Malcolm Williams (CB, TCU) practices, which means he's signed a contract. The Patriots have signed four of their nine draft choices at this point.Patriots afternoon practice concludes.
