[QUOTE]Dang Flutie, this thread is making me want to get my kids a ferret for a pet. Really, no big troubles?

i have known people that had them before me, but they treated them like a caged animal (ie rat, mouse, gerbil) so i always thought thats what they were. my girlfriend got one first, then when i moved in with her we got another. they are as playful as kittens their whole lives, and they love you like a dog does.
smells can be managed by bathing once a month (not more, you can damage their skin), cleaning out their litter box (weekly), and by keeping your house clean. they will get into EVERYTHING tho, so make sure you baracade places like under the fridge, stove, and holes in a closet or under cabinets. they are very good problem solvers, so make sure you think of every angle
they are very possesive animals and will find places around the house to stash things theyve taken as their own. usually its toys that weve gotten them, but they like to steal things like keys, bags of weed, anything rubbery.
they are very loving and playful, and will bond with other animals in your home (cats and dogs will not usually attack them because they will recognize they ferrets as fellow preditors). i have brought them to friends houses before and they have gotten along fine with cats, a dog, and a giant lizard (although i dont think the lizard liked them too much).
hope you look into getting one, they are great pets!
