Rex Ryan expects to be fired

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/rex-ryan-reportedly-tells-york-jets-expects-fired-181152901--nfl.html

Maybe it's a motivational ploy or Rex Ryan has some friends close to the front office that have told him a decision has been made on his future, but he reportedly told the Jets players on Saturday night that he thinks he will be fired.

It wouldn't come as a huge shock. The writing was on the wall when the team brought in a new general manager, John Idzik. Ryan seemed to be in trouble even before the season started. A solid season, with a 6-8 season so far with rookie quarterback Geno Smith, perhaps didn't help him enough.

According to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, Ryan told his team about the Jets' plans for him.

If Ryan is fired after the season, he won't be unemployed long. He's a highly respected defensive coach, and at very least he'll get a prime coordinator job. He'll probably get consideration for some head-coaching opportunities as well, considering he has had some success with the Jets.

Or, perhaps Ryan is hopeful that his team plays very well in the final two games and saves his job. If the decision isn't made already.

It make sense for Idzik to bring in one of his kind of guys.  But it would depend on where Idzik wants to go with this thing.  If loud and brash is your thing Ryan should stay on board.

Agreed, the longer they are around the worse off the Jests will be.  Plus, he is just fun to laught at.

He won't be fired.  Used that for motivational purposes and playing the sympathy card.

They won't say he was fired. He will say he resigned to spend more time with his wife's feet... er I mean with his family.

Sorry to be a contrarian but Rex has done a good job this year. If that organization knew how to draft a QB the Pats could be in trouble. His defense looks like it could be pretty good the next few years.

The best and most hilariously amazing thing about the Jets mediocre season is that even through they are completely mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, their season still has playoff implications because the Steelers absurd long shot playoff hopes are tied to a three way tiebreak scenario that must include the Jets.

So next week the Jets take the field with the Steelers season on the line - but not their own. That just about sums up the Jets season!!!

It really doesn't matter who is or will be coaching the Jets as long as they continue to play Geno Smith at QB.

whether they keep him or dismiss him or he quits in the big picture doesn't really matter. The question of the day is....Rex are you now ready to kiss the ring...
