    Setting the lineup for 2012

Here is how the roster is currently set, does not include UFAs. This is ordered alphabetically, and not by depth chart. The position listed is how they are set on the Boston.com website roster (i.e. Cannon is a T and not a G). Looks like there will be a lot of competition at a few positions (WR and DE/LB). How does this shake out to a 53 man roster and a practice squad? Anyone gone before training camp?

Re: Setting the lineup for 2012

I see Connolly as more of a Center then Guard and Sterling Moore as a CB rather then a S, but I see it playing out similar to this:

    QB(3)
    Tom Brady
    Brian Hoyer
    Ryan Mallett

    RB(4)
    Eric Kettani
    Stevan Ridley
    Shane Vereen
    Danny Woodhead

    TE(3)
    Daniel Fells
    Rob Gronkowski
    Aaron Hernandez

    WR(7)
    Deion Branch
    Jeremy Ebert
    Julian Edelman
    Brandon Lloyd
    Chad Ochocinco
    Matthew Slater
    Wes Welker

    OT(4)
    Marcus Cannon
    Matt Kopa
    Nate Solder
    Sebastian Vollmer

    OG(5)
    Dan Connolly
    Robert Gallery
    Logan Mankins
    Nick McDonald
    Brian Waters

    C(3)
    Danny Aiken (LS)
    Dan Koppen
    Ryan Wendell

    NT(1)
    Vince Wilfork

    DT(3)
    Ron Brace
    Kyle Love
    Myron Pryor

    DE(4)
    Jake Bequette
    Brandon Deaderick
    Jonathan Fanene
    Chandler Jones

    LB(7)
    Markell Carter
    Dane Fletcher
    Dont'a Hightower
    Jerod Mayo
    Rob Ninkovich
    Brandon Spikes
    Tracy White

    CB(5)
    Will Allen
    Kyle Arrington
    Alfonzo Dennard
    Ras-I Dowling
    Devin McCourty

    S(4)
    Patrick Chung
    Steve Gregory
    Sterling Moore
    Tavon Wilson

    K(1)
    Stephen Gostkowski

    P(1)
    Zoltan Mesko

I think I'm 2 over 53, but it's tough from there. I could see Kettani getting cut or ending up on the Practice Squad again, but I see them having 4 RBs regardless. If Connolly keeps improving, Koppen is gone I think. If Mallet has developed well, I could see them possibly trying to get a mid-round pick for Hoyer but I doubt many teams would make the deal when he will be a FA next year anyway.

Re: Setting the lineup for 2012

One thing is clear. We really need more receivers.
