wondering how you feel about Kelly' s offense? it looked good and entertaining, but can they sustain it for 16 games. Kelly said today-- "they weren't fast enough" is this what the new NFL is all about?
thanks for your thoughts.
Have you been watching the Patriots for the last two years? The Pats ran more plays on Sunday than the Eagles did (89-77). Dont always buy all the media hype.
NE's quick play-calling was adapted, partially, from Chip Kelly. A couple years ago, before the Pats started this plan, BB actually went to visit Chip Kelly in Oregon to see the basics.
The Eagles will catch on ... Kelly will be sure of it.
That said, anyone familiar with the differences between NFL and NCAA rules would know that no NFL offense will be able to run as many plays as Kelly's Oregon teams had. Substitution rules are different, ref placement rules are different, and the refs just won't allow it to happen.
"the refs won't allow it to happen?"...you mean up tempo?
Is up tempo a good or bad thing for the nfl? It seems it could be good. More exciting to watch, possibly more points scored, and when /if not scored, more breaks for paid commercial time. Lol...
Very good point. We should not be surprised if rules and/or implementation of rules are tweaked to allow teams to execute 100+ plays a game.
Eventually the constraint will be having only 53 men on the roster.
Up tempo will not go away. Tempo and speed is a way to even the field versus teams with more of the real football talent.
