just saw on NFL network it wasnt for being late but for skipping a team meeting earlier in the week. Either way, I say good job BB. No one man is bigger than the team. RKarp (or anyone else plugged in) know if this is accurate?

I would be careful with any ESPN muckraking tactics during a playoff run for NE.  We've seen these attempts to sabotage from outside before.  That is the first anyone has reported such a story. Not saying it's not true, just saying, until it is corroborated by people who can be trusted, it's nothing but heresay.

True, don't even watch ESPN anymore since it became a TV tabloid.

P.S. No way BB would release him when he is most likely going to bring a compensatory pick when he signs elsewhere in the offseason.

He wasn't coming back next year... they were not going to invest long term guaranteed money in a one dimensional player.

I would have to think theres more to the story then ust missing  or being late to a team meeting.

    Chris Mortensen ‏@mortreport 18m

Brandon Spikes hobbled with knee but being late to Friday's bye week practice was final straw for Belichick. Mutually, to IR, per sources

No way, the PA would file a complaint if that were true. You can't IR a player that's not injured.

Spikes busted his knee real goid against the Bills when Spiller shook him out his kneecaps.

If true, keep your eye on Stanford's Shayne Skov on Day 2 of the draft as a possible replacement.  Skov (6-2 245), is a tough, intelligent, aggressive ILB prospect with good stack/shed and blitz ability and the skill set to consistently make plays at or behind the LOS.

What Mbeaulieu said is more believable. Spikes would have to consent to an IR before BB could do it.

Wow really? We already took huge hits on the inside LB position this year and even though Spikes can't cover I'd have a hard time believing BB would hurt an already bad run D by putting his best run D LB on IR for missing or being late to a meeting. That's not even close to being best for the team. I coul see not resigning him but taking him completely out of the playoffs and hurting your team even worse? Makes no sense.

I doubt the Pats go with a high draft pick on LB, OL, TE and maybe CB are a higher priority.

Stat is misleading, the run defense was bad due to Kelly, Vince and Mayo being gone, but it settled once Siliga got in the game.

Have you ever noticed how there are untrue media reports before patriots playoff games that could mess with team chemistry

Siliga was present for 3 games, 1 of which was against the Ravens who is horrible running, and 1 of which was against the Bills in horrible weather. Now I completely agree the lose of Kelly, Vince, and Mayo had a large part of it and that Siliga does help but in the end this is a bottom 1/3rd of the league run D right now regardless of the reason. Btw how is the stat misleading? Not having Vince, Kelly, and Mayo doesn't matter in the conversation because they aren't coming back this year. It would be a different story if they were but since they aren't this is what the team is currently
