Whoa, calm down Z, even a single exclamation mark is out of character for you.

Did you happen to see if Tate was lined up at split end?  (Someone in another post said he would make a good "bookend."  Is bookend the same as split end?)

It was just a jest about the insane number of exclamation points I have seen the last two days. Anything that happened had three or four after it.

Anywho, I live in New Orleans. So unless NE is getting to London by the circuitous "drunk around a lightpost" method, I didn't see them practice.

But I know (because I rock that way) that he was lined up with the punting unit, which again means nothing except that he might return some punts.

Belichick says it’s a “good possibility” that Brandon Tate and Mark LeVoir begin practice this week…

The actual official activation day is tomorrow. But when it does come around, expect receiver Brandon Tate and lineman Mark LeVoir to come off their respective lists and practicing.

Yes buy practicing does not mean "on the 53 man roster". Gasper says that LeVoir might be added to the 53 man roster because of the Light injury, but that stills leaves one extra roster spot.

Tate has been compared favorably to Eddie Royal.

Eddie Royal returns punts as well:)

Tate is said to possess the requisite quickness and change of direction to become a standout slot receiver, with the ability to go deep, like Royal.

Welker, Edelman, and Tate might make the best trio of slot receivers in the league.

Are there any famous examples of 3 slot receiver formations?

well, I am not going to go overboard on tate because of the difficulty in transitioning to the nfl as a wr

but I will say that I absolutely love the fact that the guy has memorized the play book and worked his tail off to get to this point.

I am optimistic and hopeful bc tate, edelman, moss, welker COULD be absolutely terrifying

HOBBS WAS TRADED BC THE PATS DRAFTED TATE

THE PATS GOT TATE AS A PR/KR SPECIALIST with hopes that he might make a decent nfl wr

AND I HOPE THAT HE CAN MAKE AN IMPRESSION AS A WR BUT TO DO IT THIS YEAR, WELL THAT MIGHT BE TOUGH

That is why he is in new england and hobbs is gone though.

    Realistic expecations

Tate is atleast ... from North carolina NOT florida so thats good from an nfl transitional perspective

and no one talks about the fact that the kid has numerous records for pr/kr

It just isnt realistic to think that this guy will have a huge impact at wr, halfway through the season, off a knee injury, as a rookie , with an already talented patriot wr cast. Not to mention the guy he has to knock off to get a spot is Sam Aiken.  Special teams captain , veteran , leader whose contract was just extended.

    easier said than done

Tate is a down field receiver.  He does have the quickness to play the slot, but with Edelman and Welker, I'm sure Tate will get his chance on the outside opposite Moss at some point.

Not to mention todays "practice" wasnt really a practice as much as it was a walkthrough. tate is a very talented player but its yet to be seen how much of that talent BB can extract out of him..

As stated when we drafted Tate, if he makes it back, Belichick will use him on return duties and as depth at WR. This will happen eventually. As for Chad Jackson he had a great combine, but like some U of F players was probably overated and overhyped based solely on the program he was from....can you say that about players from North Carolina......Peppers and LT still better than any LB from Florida ? Besides the draft is a crapshoot all the time anyway...if your good the NFL will find you...eventually....

I think Tate can be a big improvement on kickoff returns.  Not sure if he's a punt returner as well, but we have no explosive kickoff returners and that's one part of the game that can be picked up quickly.

Tate is a young Joey Galloway, but with better hands-- fast and a really good deep threat. I don't expect to see him play WR until the MIA game, but that's only because we don't need him to beat the Buccs. Why not bring him in slowly and make sure he gets the system? I want him playing the third receiver spot against the Indianapolis Jokes, though.

Hard to imagine that Tate can develop enough chemistry with Brady in three weeks for any WR duty even if he has memorized the playbook....but it could happen...and opponents have absolutely no tape on him..that's a plus. But by week 10 or 11, he might be contributing...

Moss & Brady didn't play together in any preseason game in 07, game 1, OMG.

Also, Tate has been ready since week 2, No way Belichick didn't having running some plays.

Yeah, he's said to be a bit raw as a route runner, Not emerging as a college WR until late.

The odds of an immediate impact at WR are somewhat low, but he should have opportunity.

Tate was a flanker for the Tarheels. It is hard to imagine that he has been much more exposed to NFL route systems than a UF wideout.

    Still, crazy things can happen.

At this rate, though, it is good to have bodies in there. I just wish NE had that roster spot covered coming in.
