Seems near everyone in the media has slobbered over themselves regarding the Broncos amazing offense, that has broken many NFL records this year.
But, if you ask the question, "What have you done for me lately, you see a bit of a different picture:
First 8 Regular Season Games (Denver played 8 before bye, Pats played 9)
Points For (per game): Denver, 42.9 New England, 22.4
Points Against (per game): Denver, 27.3 New England, 18.0
Next 5 Regular Season Games
Points For (per game): Denver, 34.4 New England, 34.0
Points Against (per game): Denver, 25.4 New England, 28.6
Last 4 Games of Season (3 Regular Season + 1 Playoff Game)
Points For (per game): Denver, 28.8 New England, 34.5
Points Against (per game): Denver, 17.8 New England, 18.3
Of course, none of this means the Broncs can't explode for 50 on any given day, especially if turnovers go their way. But the impression that they are marching over teams like Sherman through Georgia is a bit dated.
What is of note is that improving defense has had as much to do with Denver's second half success as anything. But with Harris now out...hopefully, that D will be at a noticeable disadvantage.
