    There is a Silver Lining

Since we did not end up one of the top 8 playoff teams this year, we will not be subject to the restrictions on singing free agents in an uncapped year.  Had we won today, we could have only signed a FA if we lost one of similar value.

I'm hardly an expert on this, so feel free to chime in if this is off base.  I believe this was discussed by Breer in his last chat though.

Can you explain what the "No Cap" year means in erms of resigning our own players?

    Albert Breer:
A lot of it depends, believe it or not, on this weekend. The final eight playoff teams will all be restricted in that they will only be able to sign a free agent as another one leaves. The final four will only be able to spend what departing free agents get. So there will be restrictions, and so it could have an influence ... Say you really want a Peppers. Well, then, you have to let some guys go to make it happen.
