Bottom of the league in total payroll?  That's absurd.

And the Giants miss Laurence Taylor, too.  I'm sorry but I fail to see the point in second guessing a personnel decision that is 3+ years old that may or may not have hurt the team.  The guys they miss are Leigh Bodden and Ty Warren both of whom are difference makers.

    Asante Samuel?  Seriously?

    Agreed with the majority.

They miss Leigh Bodden. Leigh had that corner on shut down mode, but you can't cry over spilled milk. Let the kids play. Next year, when Bodden returns, they'll move Butler to slot.

They miss Bodden.  Our starting corners should be McCoutry and Bodden.
A guy that they miss that they never had is Clay Matthews. Pats could have had him with the 26th pick in 2009. Dude already has 6 sacks this year. Theres your outside pass rush.

RIGHT ON - I have been stating this ever since Bill played that double dip - Trade down for Value on the draft board.  Green Bay will be enjoying that misque for years to come.

10 Sacks as a rookie and already at 6 for this current season.  His play on the field could mask some of those secondary issues.  Without pressure to throw quickly or on the run, an NFL caliber QB will find and expose a weak link.
There isn't enought talented players on this team especially in the secondary.  Say what you want, but they deffinitely need asante samuel.  The big problem is they let him walk, are at the bottom of the league in total payroll, and make an insane amount of money.  They need to spend more on players plain and simple.

They miss players like Bruschi,Harrison,Willie Mac and Ty Law as well. No playmakers on defense is killing the Pats. This year and last year.

Agree- BB has really missed at the draft recently. His last 2 offseasons have been bewildering to say the least. What is his long term plan?

Re: Samuel A Liability, Not An Asset

In Response to Samuel A Liability, Not An Asset:
In Response to They Miss Samuel : Huh?  Does it occur to you that Asante Samuel freelanced all the time?  People kill Brandon Meriweather for that, yet Asante was worse at it.  The Patriots were not going to get better play out of him than they're presently getting from who they have now.  Where are the Patriots bottom-dwellers in payroll?  Where ARE THEY NOT spending on players?
    Posted by STP43FAN
I tell you where they look like bottom dwellers on pay roll is on the defensive side of the ball. With the exception of Vince Wilfork nobody on D looks like a playmaker worthy of any decent money. They are either recycled rubbish, rookies or very inexperienced including Mayo who has regressed badly. When the pressure is on they freeze like a deer in headlights.
