This Bend-Don't-Break Defense will cost them

I'm really starting to distrust this defense. This reasoning of this is a young defense must stop because they have played enough football to understand what must be done. This conservative Bend-Don't-Break defense will cost this team (really should have cost them the game against the jets) because they don't get a pass rush and this group of linebackers and defensive backs cannot cover. Even if they are in good coverage, they can't make a play on the football and sometimes their tackling is bad. You put that combination together and the results are a 28th - 32nd ranked pass defense. I don't know what the problem is, but it seems like Coach Belichick is not getting through to them. Through these 7 games, its really hard to trust this defense and this team in general because the offense (In the 4th quarter) makes it frustrating with the play-calling. Something has got to change, whether its an attitude change or something because this formula is going to cost them.

They need to take a chance and blitz.

Everytime they show a highlight of Hightower from 'Bama he's in the backfield getting to the QB or RB.

Need to force the QB to make a bad throw instead of praying for coverage to hold up.

They've got the "bend" part down cold . . . it's the "but don't break" part that still needs some work.

I quite frankly am not sure why anyone even bothers with running against the Pats after these past few games. i would rather see Jim Brown run it 30 times at the Pats than see Mark freakin' Sanchez toss it up 30 times (loved those fumbles though).

    Ah...the elusive Bend-but-Don't Break Mythology.

Just like Bigfoot and the Loch-Ness Monster, makes for a great fire-side tale.

Dates back to the days of the Puritans.

Don't think anyone's ever spotted one.

    BB has no clue.

His defense has been terrible for 6 seasons

Bend but don't break defense are not a really thing, and even if it were, this team with all the huge plays that it gives up, certainly would not qualify.

Interestingly enough no team has given up more touchdowns in the past four seasons than the Pats.

That means "bend but don't break" is basically a fiction. We break a lot. "Bend but don't break" would mean forcing teams to settle for field goals. That's not us.
