Tony Logan, a punt returner, has been assigned a locker

Mike Rodak has reported that Tony Logan , from University of Maryland, whose college football career was mostly as a punt returner, has been assigned a locker in Gillette. (Apparently Logan posted a picture of his assigned locker on twitter, even before there is any announcement. A no, no?).

He had 560 yds in punt return in 2010, 2 for TD, which was second in Maryland and ACC history. Doubt that he would be anything more than a PS signing, at least for this week in an all important game, when he has not played a down in the NFL, even in a preseason game. But if he works out, it would take the risk of injury from Welker fielding punts.

    Good move imo.

Hindsight is 20/20 so I don't blame BB, but I can't help but wonder if we had used the IR designated for return on Demps instead of Shiancoe whether we could have gotten some value out of him in this role.

Good move. Shia wasn't doing anything anyways and we need a punt returner. I trust Welker but I held my breath everytime beaten worrying about Welker getting hurt and his recent case of the dropsies on passes

How sick would it be if Demps was healthy?  Ugh.  Thank God BB gets guys with versatility and can plug whomever into the role and do an adequate job.  However, I hate Welker being our main PR.  He takes enough beating already.  Also, I thought I heard that Hern was practicing punt returns in practice?  Let's hope that idea doesn't come to fruition.

Once Edelman went down, I was hoping Vereen would get a shot but obviously BB doesn't feel comfortable enough to send him out there.

I'm excited to hear how Logan does in practice.  I've seen him a few times, being that I'm an ACC guy.  He's got pretty good speed being clocked at 4.4 in the 40

Good move.   I don't want an aging Welker, whom we need to be 100% in his main role, back there the rest of the way.

[/QUOTE] Kind of agree with you, though his 31 yard return monday set us up for an early short-field-TD. He just seems to have a knack for getting down and avoiding the really big hits. What I do like about Welker being back there is when we've got the lead and ball security is the highest priority, Welker fair-catching the ball makes more sense to me than anybody else on the team. Wish I didn't have to cringe every time I see Welker back there, but at this point I really don't have confidence in anyone else doing the job.

There were a few plays against Houston where Welker looked like he took some shots and got up slow.

Why isn't Slater out there returning punts and kickoffs?

Didn't he fumble a few times on kick returns if I remember correctly?

I'm pretty sure you're right, tcal.  I know he fumbled at least once last year.

We all know this puts you in BB's dog-house real quick
