    Too bad for Carter

I didn't see a post about the loss of Andre Carter.  Big loss, and it may affect their base D. Mark Anderson did a nice job yesterday, but going forward it seems like they have better depth/personnel to play the 3-4 more (Brace, Deaderick, Ellis, Warren, etc. at 3-4 DE).  What do you all think about how Carter's injury affects the defense going into the playoffs?

    Re: Too bad for Carter

Unfortunately I think he was the most important piece on D other than Vince.  Injuries haave been rough on D this year.  The real issue is that I don't think NE has anyone who can do everything as well as he could.  There are guys who can rush the passer and guys that can stop the run, but Carter could do both and that versatility will be missed.  I hope he can get healthy for next year.  I haven't seen a prognosis on his injury/surgery in terms of recovery.

It's a major loss. I hope it's not career ending given his age. I would love to see him back next year

as PCM said Carter and Wilfork were the MVP's of the D this season. Lets see who steps up to fill his role

It's not good.  The guy was getting results.  I don't see a lot changing scheme-wise. I'm betting we see Anderson's playtime see a big increase, essentially taking Carter's place.  Hopefully he's up to the task, like yesterday.  He's shown good signs in his work so far.

Anderson looked good, not sure who would play the run-stopping DE when the Pats play the 4-3.  Much like TBC, Anderson seems to be more of a specialist-type player, although he is an upgrade from TBC for the pass rush.

    Re: Too bad for Carter

I feel really bad for him. He was having a really good year. I was hoping he'd at least get a cance to play in the playoffs. It must be incredibly disappointing for players who are injured late in the year on a playoff bound team. Still, he most definitely helped the Pats get to where they are, so I hope he can keep that in mind as he begins rehab.
