Where Does Richard Seymour Rank With The Best Defensive Lineman Of The Last 20 Years?

I think he's in the discussion for Top Ten without a doubt, he has 41 career stats, but you can't count Seymour purely on stats because of the defense he played in.

My Top 20 Defensive Lineman from 1990-2009 would be the following.

    1.  Reggie White
    2.  Bruce Smith
    3.  Michael Strathan
    4.  Jason Taylor
    5.  Richard Seymour

    6.  Warren Sapp

    7.  Ted Washington

    8.  Bryant Young

    9.  Albert Haynesworth

    10. John Randle
    11. Neil Smith
    12. Dwight Freeney
     13. Charles Haley
    14. Sam Adams
    15. Simeon Rice
    16. Jevon Kearse
    17. Neil Smith

You must be joking - top 5....Richard Seymour hasn't dominated a game in a few years.

Richard Seymour is the guy who told Tom Brady to believe in himself.  Richard Seymour is the guy who told Mo Lewis to kill Bledsoe.  Richard Seymour is the guy who convinced Bob Kraft to keep the Pats in Foxboro.  Richard Seymour is the guy who demanded we trade for Corey Dillion.  Richard Seymour is the guy who broke into the Oakland Raiders clubhouse and stole Randy Moss for a 4th round pick.  Richard Seymour is the guy who said lets give Matt Cassel a chance.  Everyone that knows Patriot football, knows that Richard Seymour (not Josh McDaniels) called 98 percent of the offensive plays in 2007

I don't think you can accurately rate DL's in one pile like that.  DE and DT are totally different responsibilities and then you have guys playing one gap D vs. guys who play 2 gap.  It's like night and day.
