Makes me sick to see Snyder and Skins will sign Peppers at any cost! It seems like The Skins dont adhere to cap rules...how do they do it?

Don't believe the posters on this board who constantly whine we can't afford (insert name) because of the cap.

Kraft is a cheap SOB.  There are accounting ways around everything.  Up front money and bonuses are a way plus the cap increases every year.

Look at the Jets.  They have been buying big Free agents the last few years.

Wrong.  Big name free agent signings does not = total money spent. The Patriots just spread the money more evenly so they have decent players around the roster, rather than a bunch of "superstars" and a bunch of scrubs.  Everyone wonders why the Redskins make these huge signings every year then are still a terrible team. It's because they have no money to get decent players for the rest of their roster.  The Patriots are right in line with most in total spending.

You mention the Jets?  I read somewhere that the Patriots and Jets have almost identical total spending records over the past 3 years.  Big name signings look good but don't translate to wins most of the time.

pyegians completely right. The Skins have signed some big names to heavy contracts but looking at their entire starting team and you'll start to see that some of their starters would be lucky to be second stringers for us and their backups are the scrap heap of the NFL. That's no way to form a winning team but the names sure sell tickets. Personally I'd rather spread the money out over the entire team and have a much more balanced team.

Snyder's a good example for the Patriots to follow.  He sure has had a lot of success throwing money around the last ten years.

Synder is a lousy owner. How many coaches has he gone thru? His gig is to throw around big money every year! If he could he'd spend twice as much the other clubs. Good thing we've had a cap all these years!

Re: Why is Synder able to spend so much? Dont the Skins have a cap?

    To ALL:

Make NO mistake, Snyder DOES spend (perhaps "overspend") on high-profile NFL Stars, while NE tends to distribute its cap-money more evenly to ALL players on average throughout NE's roster, which worked out well as NE spent to bolster it's "no-weak-links" team on a very talented but underappreciated and thus undervalued core group of mid-priced vets who became the framework of support for 3-4 decent Draft Classes with each securing no less (it seemed) than 2-3 decent contributing players....YET, I'm not sure exactly WHERE NE has faltered (some bad drafts, wasted mid-now-lower-costing Free Agents, fear of trading up to "spend" on 1 potential bust-so BB trades down and spends for 2-3 guys that'll do zilch-i.e. hedging his bets more and more):

BUT I DO Know 1 Thing: At least during the past 2 Seasons, make NO mistake, This Franchise has been cheaper than most, cheaper than SB years, and just well, kinda cheap in overall spending (which mighta been fine for instance, when surrounded by good drafts, but it's not fine on 4-5 sub-par draft years):

Good question. How can they afford him and what they have payed numerous expensive Free agents of recent years. Not to mention Haynesworth. At the Pats it always seems to be can't afford to keep both Wilfork and Seymour etc.
